Sims Metal Management Limited is engaged in buying, processing, and selling ferrous and non-ferrous recycled metals primarily in North America, Australasia, and Europe. It is involved in the collection, processing, and trading of iron and steel secondary raw materials; and other metal alloys and residues, principally aluminum, lead, copper, zinc, and nickel bearing materials. The company is also engaged in the provision of environmentally responsible solutions for the disposal of postconsumer electronic products, including IT assets recycled for commercial customers; and environmentally responsible recycling of negative value materials, such as refrigerators, as well as electrical and electronic equipment. In addition, it is involved in the provision of secondary processing and other services comprising the melting, refining, and ingoting of non-ferrous metals and other sources of services. The company was founded in 1917 and is headquartered in Botany, Australia.

Sims Metal Management Announces Retirement of Robert Kelman as Managing Director - European Metals, Effective June 30, 2015

Sims Metal Management announced that Robert (Bob) Kelman, Managing Director of European Metals, will retire from Sims on June 30, 2015. Mr. Kelman has been Managing Director of Sims' European Metals division since July 1, 2014, charged with the realignment and growth of Sims' metal recycling operations in Europe. Mr. Kelman will remain as a consultant to Sims for a period of time after his retirement. Mr. Kelman has been involved in the recycling industry for more than 30 years. Prior to his current position, he served as President, North America Metals for Sims. He previously held positions of President of Commercial and Business Development of the Company, and also President and COO of predecessor company Sims-Hugo Neu, where he was the chief architect of the Company's long-term contract with New York City to recycle its curbside post-consumer metals, plastic and glass. Paul Wright - Director Commercial, UK Metals and Peter Bird - Director Operations, UK Metals will now report directly to Galdino Claro.

Sims Metal Management Limited announced earnings for the half year ended December 31, 2014. For the period, the company reported sales revenue of AUD 3,387.2 million compared to AUD 3,593.3 million a year ago. Underlying EBIT was AUD 90.9 million compared to AUD 67.6 million a year ago. Underlying EBITDA was AUD 149.3 million against AUD 128.5 million a year ago. EBITDA was AUD 153.5 million against AUD 113.0 million a year ago. NPAT was AUD 74.5 million against AUD 9.3 million a year ago. EPS diluted was 36.3 cents against 4.5 cents a year ago. EBIT was AUD 95.1 million against AUD 52.1 million a year ago. Underlying NPAT was AUD 64.4 million against AUD 42.1 million a year ago. EPS diluted was AUD 31.4 million against AUD 20.3 million a year ago. For the six months, the company announced total sales volume of 5,500,000 tonnes compared to 6,124,000 tonnes for the same period a year ago. The company announced that it has determined to pay an interim dividend for six months ended December 31, 2014 of 16.0 cents per share, which will be fully franked, on 27 March 2015 to shareholders on the company's register at the record date of 13 March 2015.
