Sembcorp Marine Ltd engages in the marine and offshore engineering business worldwide. The company operates in two segments, Ship and Rig Repair, Building, and Conversion; and Ship Chartering. It offers ship repair services to mid-sized tankers, and very large and ultra large crude carriers; and repairs chemical tankers, container vessels, passenger ships, LNG and LPG gas carriers, dredgers, bulk carriers, derrick barges, and navy vessels. The company also designs and constructs product tankers; ocean-going tugs; ice-class chemical tankers; multi-purpose cargo vessels; ro-ro vessels; bulk carriers; and cable laying and repair vessels. In addition, it is involved in the conversion of tankers to floating production storage offloading (FPSO) and floating storage offloading units; pipe-laying and construction barges; and tankers to lightering vessels, cargo vessels to livestock carriers, cargo vessels to container ships, power barge conversions, and the jumboisation and dejumboisation of vessels, as well as repairs and upgrades jack-up drilling rigs, and upgrades semi-submersible rigs for deep-water drilling. Further, the company designs and builds deep drilling offshore jack-up rigs; constructs semi-submersible rigs; and produces semi-submersible rigs for the offshore oil and gas industry, as well as constructs heavy-lift jack-up barges, work-over rigs, and offshore platforms. Additionally, it engages in the engineering, procurement, construction, transportation, installation, offshore hook-up, and commissioning of offshore production platforms and floating production facilities for the oil and gas industries, as well as fabrication, installation, integration, and commissioning of production modules for fixed platforms and FPSO units. The company was formerly known as Jurong Shipyard Ltd and changed its name to Sembcorp Marine Ltd in 2000. The company was founded in 1963 and is headquartered in Singapore. Sembcorp Marine Ltd. is a subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries Ltd.

Sembcorp Marine Launches New Steel Structure Fabrication Workshop

Sembcorp Marine has launched its new steel structure fabrication workshop in Southeast Asia. The 120,000-square-metre facility at Sembcorp Marine's Tuas Boulevard Yard is fully covered. Comprising five bays for pre-treatment, cutting and assembly, the workshop is ergonomically designed to facilitate a seamless work flow. It operates with a suite of computerised systems, mechanised steel-cutting and welding equipment, high-capacity cranes, and a streamlined process that not only optimises production efficiency, but also reduces man-hours and production time to half of previous process requirements for every tonne of steel fabricated. The company features of the new facility include a fully-automated panel production line that delivers high quality welding precision and efficiency, as well as capabilities for producing steel components of customised shapes and sizes. This new facility will integrate with all other capabilities Tuas Boulevard Yard and allow to more effectively offer customers a one-stop shop for offshore and marine engineering solutions. It is also a key feature of its ongoing development to turn the Tuas Boulevard Yard into a high-tech production hub that underpins Sembcorp Marine's ability to compete on value and scale.

Sembcorp Marine Ltd. announced unaudited group earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2015. For the quarter, the company reported turnover of SGD 1,129,877,000 compared to SGD 1,711,564,000 a year ago. Operating profit was SGD 74,750,000 compared to SGD 171,359,000 a year ago. Profit before tax was SGD 22,564,000 compared to SGD 171,073,000 a year ago. Profit for the period was SGD 31,510,000 compared to SGD 139,237,000 a year ago. Profit attributable to owners of the company was SGD 32,106,000 or 1.54 cents per basic and diluted share compared to SGD 132,005,000 or 6.32 cents per basic and diluted share a year ago. Net cash generated from operating activities was SGD 248,000 compared to net cash used in operating activities of SGD 608,936,000 a year ago. Purchase of property, plant and equipment was SGD 288,879,000 compared to SGD 216,568,000 a year ago. Maersk Announces Contracts to Develop Culzean Gas Field

Lucrative contracts to develop Maersk's giant £3 billion Culzean gas field were revealed with Sembcorp the latest to announce a £653 million agreement to build the topsides for the North Sea mega-development. Sembcorp Marine has secured the contract to build the central processing facility plus two connecting bridges, wellhead platform, utilities and living quarters topsides. The announcement came on the same day Subsea 7 announced it had won a £98 million subsea, umbilical, riser and flowline (Surf) contract to work on one of the gas discoveries offshore UK. The Luxembourg-based services group said project management and engineering work will commence immediately from its Aberdeen office. Offshore activities will use a number of Subsea 7 vessels including the pipelay and heavy-lift vessel, Seven Borealis. It will design and instal a 32-mile gas export pipeline connected to the Central Area Transmission System (Cats), and a two-mile pipe-in-pipe that will provide insulation for the transportation of condensate to the infield floating, storage and offloading facility (FSO). Offshore operations are scheduled to commence in 2017. Sembcorp will provide engineering, procurement, construction and onshore pre-commissioning services for the new development, while detailed engineering work will be performed by a subcontracting partner. The new facility will be installed at a water depth of 90 metres in UK sector of the Central North Sea around 145-miles east of Aberdeen.
