The company provides protection products comprising filter and termination devices that are integrated with the transient voltage suppressor devices, which protect electronic systems from voltage spikes; power products, including switching voltage regulators, combination switching and linear regulators, smart regulators, and charge pumps that control, alter, regulate, and condition the power within electronic systems; and discrete semiconductor products consisting of rectifiers, assemblies, and other products for use in industrial, military, medical, automotive, and aerospace applications, as well as defense systems, including satellite communications. It also offers signal integrity and timing products, such as a portfolio of optical communications, broadcast video, surveillance video, active cable transceiver, and backplane products used in various enterprise computing, industrial, communications, and high-end consumer applications; and proprietary advanced wired communication and ultra-high speed serializer/deserializer products for use in long-haul optical transport communication. In addition, the company provides wireless, sensing and timing products, including a portfolio of specialized radio frequency functions used in various industrial, medical, and networking applications, as well as specialized sensing functions used in industrial and consumer applications. It primarily serves original equipment manufacturers and their subcontractors. The company sells its products directly, as well as through independent sales representative firms and independent distributors in North America, the Asia Pacific, and Europe. Semtech Corporation was founded in 1960 and is headquartered in Camarillo, California.

Semtech Corporation Launches First Tri-Mode Wireless Charging Platform

Semtech Corporation announced its TS80K wireless charging design platform, which includes the TS80000 transmitter, the TS81000 receiver, a complete set of new power management ICs and reference design kits, to address the increasing need for wireless charging in the consumer, mobile, industrial and embedded solution markets. The platform offers scalable power, flexible design capability and supports evolving industry standards. Semtech’s TS80K wireless charging platform supports all three major wireless charging standards, Qi, PMA and A4WP Rezence, in multi-mode for both transmitter and receiver applications. It is designed to be flexible, making it easy to implement quickly in different configurations and form factors, as well as support evolving wireless charging standards. It is also the wireless charging platform on the market that can scale to power low, medium and high power applications from 100mW to 100W and beyond. Key Features includes: Flexibility, Scalable Power, Fast Charging Solution, Advanced Ecosystem Charging Solution. The TS80K platform is shipping in production Oct. 5, 2015, and includes the transmitter (TS80000) and receiver (TS81000) controllers and supporting power management devices (TS61001, TS31023, TS30011, TS51111 and TS51221). The TS80000 is available immediately for $3.10 per 1,000 units. Design kits, including evaluation boards and documentation are also available immediately.

The Lace Company Deploys Lora-Enabled Iot Network by Semtech

Semtech announced The Lace Company has deployed an Internet of Things (IoT) network, enabled by LoRa RF technology, covering more than a dozen major cities in Russia including Moscow and Saint Petersburg. The LoRaWAN protocol standardizes low-power, wide-area networks (LPWAN) with direct connection of low-power end devices to gateways, and cloud-based network serves to enable interoperability between IoT applications. The LoRa Alliance, which includes both Semtech and Lace and was launched earlier this year, is a fast-growing alliance with the goal to standardize LPWAN for IoT networks globally. The Alliance includes leading IoT solution providers, major telecom companies and numerous companies developing products for IoT.

Semtech Partners to Launch IoT Network for Smart Commercial Solutions Using LoRa RF Sensors

Semtech announced that its LoRa RF technology will be integrated in a low-power, wide-area network deployed by Bouygues Telecom, in partnership with Sagemcom. The network, based on Semtech’s open LoRaWAN standard, will enable commercial service providers to take full advantage of the Internet of Things (IoT) movement to offer smarter, more efficient solutions for urban planning, infrastructure management, utility usage and more. These solutions will include tens of millions of connected LoRa-based sensors spread across urban and rural areas to more efficiently manage, monitor and control things such as energy usage in buildings; traffic, parking and lighting conditions in smart cities; natural resource consumption in homes and businesses; early warning detection systems for fires, avalanches and floods; tracking devices for vehicles, people and pets; and commercial systems for supply chain management, mobile payments and shelf stock rotation. Two early adopters of the new LoRa-based network are Schneider Electric and the Colas Group. Schneider Electric will use the network to detect energy consumption as part of its Issy Grid project, which is the first operational district level smart grid in France, while the Colas Group plans to use LoRa floor sensors to detect available parking spaces in the city.
