Sime Darby Berhad, an investment holding company, through its subsidiaries, is involved in the plantation, industrial equipment, motors, property, energy and utilities, and other businesses worldwide. The company’s Plantation segment produces and markets fresh fruit bunches, crude palm oil, palm kernel, and rubber; refines and markets palm oil related products; manufactures and distributes oils and fats products, palm oil-based biodiesels, oleochemicals, and nutraceuticals; produces and markets a range of fast moving consumer goods products, such as cooking oil, fruit juices, and cooking sauces; and manages estates and mills. Its Property segment engages in the development and marketing of residential, commercial, and industrial properties; development of land; and ownership and management of hospitality and leisure assets, including hotels, serviced apartments, golf courses, and a convention center. The company's Industrial segment is involved in the sale, rental, and servicing of heavy equipment comprising new machines, engines, or used equipment for the mining, construction, infrastructure, power, marine, forestry, and agriculture sectors. Its Motors segment engages in importing, assembling, distributing, and retailing passenger and commercial vehicles; and providing after-sale services. The company’s Energy & Utilities segment is involved in the system integration, marketing, and installation of electronic and electromechanical equipment, instruments, and systems; engineering, construction, ownership, and management of port facilities; treatment and distribution of treated water; and the provision of trading services. Sime Darby Berhad also engages in the insurance brokerage business. The company was founded in 1910 and is headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Sime Darby Denies Acquisition Of S P Setia From Pemodalan Nasional

Sime Darby Berhad (KLSE:SIME) denied seeking acquisition of S P Setia Berhad (KLSE:SPSETIA) from Permodalan Nasional Berhad. S P Setia Bhd said reports relating to a potential merger of the property developer with Sime Darby Bhd's property arm is mere speculation, and that the company is not privy to the details of the rumoured corporate move. "It's just speculation and we don't know the details, so it is very difficult to comment. If there is any kind of corporate activity, the board will deliberate and then we will make a statement on it.” "Other than that, we read it from the paper, just like you," Datuk Khor Chap Jen , Acting President and Chief Executive Officer of S P Setia Bhd, said quipped at a press conference after the group's annual general meeting on March 26, 2015.

Sime Darby Reportedly Mulls Acquisition Of S P Setia From Pemodalan Nasional

Sime Darby Berhad (KLSE:SIME) reportedly is seeking acquisition of S P Setia Berhad (KLSE:SPSETIA) from Permodalan Nasional Berhad. The Edge weekly reported that a proposal has been put forward to the relevant parties for Sime Darby to buy Pemodalan Nasional Bhd’s stake in S P Setia Bhd as a first step towards consolidating the property portfolio of PNB. PNB owns 51.1% of S P Setia.
