Sherritt International Corporation engages in the mining and refining of nickel from lateritic ores in Canada, Cuba, and Madagascar. Its Metals segment mines, processes, refines, and markets nickel and cobalt; and produces and sells agricultural fertilizers. This segment also owns and operates fertilizer, sulphuric acid, utilities, and storage facilities in Fort Saskatchewan. The company’s Oil and Gas segment is involved in the exploration and development of oil and gas properties in Cuba, Spain, Pakistan, and the United Kingdom. Its Power segment constructs and operates electricity generating plants that provide electricity in Cuba; and owns an electricity generating plant in Madagascar. As of December 31, 2014, this segment’s power generation facilities located in Cuba had a total capacity of 506 megawatts. The company’s Corporate and Other segment engages in evaluating, developing, and commercializing process technologies for natural resource based industries primarily for the hydrometallurgical recovery of non-ferrous metals. Sherritt International Corporation was incorporated in 1995 and is headquartered in Toronto, Canada.

Sherritt International Corporation Reports Earnings Results for the Second Quarter and Six Months Ended June 30, 2015; Revises Production Guidance for the Year Ending December 31, 2015

Sherritt International Corporation reported earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2015. For the quarter, combined revenue was $268.4 million against $304.6 million a year ago. Adjusted EBITDA was $40.2 million against $75.4 million a year ago. Combined negative free cash flow was $67.0 million against $19.6 million a year ago. Net loss from continuing operations per share was $0.16 against $0.16 a year ago. Combined adjusted operating cash flow per share was $0.09 against $0.06 a year ago. Net loss from continuing operations was $47.6 million against $49.0 million a year ago. Adjusted net loss from continuing operations was $75.2 million or $0.25 per share against $56.2 million or $0.19 per share a year ago. Capital expenditures in the quarter account for $28 million of the cash used. For the six months, combined revenue was $546.7 million against $555.3 million a year ago. Adjusted EBITDA was $84.4 million against $130.3 million a year ago. Combined negative free cash flow was $55.8 million against $78.6 million a year ago. Net loss from continuing operations per share was $0.36 against $0.40 a year ago. Combined adjusted operating cash flow per share was $0.28 against $0.18 a year ago. Net loss from continuing operations was $104.4 million against $119.5 million a year ago. Adjusted net loss from continuing operations was $146.2 million or $0.50 per share against $114.6 million or $0.39 per share a year ago. Capital spending year-to-date was $43.5 million is more than half of its full year outlook, which has been revised downward for the second consecutive quarter as drilling results are evaluated and adjusted for the OpEx and CapEx change. The company revised its production guidance for the year ending December 31, 2015. For the period, the company now expects total production volumes of mixed sulphides to be between 84,500 tonnes-89,000 tonnes against 87,000 tonnes-94,000 tonnes as previously expected. Total production volumes of Nickel to be between 78,000-82,000 tonnes against 80,000-86,000 tonnes as previously expected. Total production volumes of Cobalt to be between 6,800-7,500 tonnes against 7,000-8,000 tonnes as previously expected. Spending on capital (excluding Corporate) is now expected to be $195 million against $210 million as previously expected.

Sherritt International Corporation Announces Executive Changes

Sherritt International Corporation announced that it has appointed David Bacon to the position of Senior Vice President. David will join Sherritt on September 9, 2015 and will become Chief Financial Officer on November 2, 2015 following the announcement of the company’s third quarter results. Dean Chambers, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer will ensure a smooth transition prior to retiring from the company on March 31, 2016. David, who will be based in Toronto, will provide leadership in all areas of financial management and reporting, Information Technology, Corporate Development and Investor Relations. Currently the Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer for Canada Cartage, David brings strong technical accounting skills and extensive financing and M&A experience. Prior to joining Canada Cartage in 2010, David held a number of senior finance roles in Canadian companies.
