Saft has been awarded a contract worth over 1 million by Alstom to supply nickel-based SRM onboard power backup batteries for metro trains on the London Underground Northern Line. Saft Receives Contract from Imtech Marine for Two Saft Seanergy Systems to Power New Hybrid Ferry

Saft announced the award of a contract to supply Li-ion battery systems to Imtech Marine. Under this award, financial details of which were not available, two Saft Seanergy systems will be at the heart of the diesel-electric hybrid propulsion system and energy management system for 'Hybrid III', the Roll On Roll Off (RORO) passenger and vehicle ferry designed for use on Scotland's short sea crossing routes around the Clyde and Hebrides. This new vessel, currently under construction by Ferguson Marine Engineering Ltd. for CMAL (Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd), will be Scotland's third hybrid ferry when it enters service in autumn 2016, carrying up to 150 passengers and 23 cars or two HGVs (Heavy Goods Vehicles).

Saft Signs Five-Year Extension to Framework Agreement to Supply Lithium-Ion Battery Systems to JSC ISS

Saft signed on June 15, 2015, at the Paris Air Show a five-year extension to a framework agreement to supply lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery systems to JSC ISS. The Saft onboard Li-ion battery systems will ensure reliable operation of the Express GEO satellites during the satellites’ twice-yearly eclipse periods. The Express battery systems utilise Saft’s VES 180 cells, which have a high specific energy capability for optimum energy storage without increasing the satellite’s all-up weight.
