Silicon Graphics International Corp. develops, markets, and sells various servers, enterprise-class storage hardware, differentiating software, and solutions in the Americas, the Asia Pacific, and European countries. It offers SGI Rackable server clusters that provide solutions for small to medium-sized installations; SGI ICE XA, a distributed memory supercomputer; and SGI UV 3, a coherent in-memory system that runs various compute-intensive workloads simultaneously. The company also provides data analytics solutions, such as SGI UV, an appliance for the SAP HANA platform; SGI InfiniteData Cluster, a cluster computing platform combining server and storage density; and SGI Fraud Analysis, Social Analytics, and Genomics solutions. In addition, it provides SGI clustered and high performance storage solutions comprising a suite of hardware and software products that addresses data storage and management requirements. Further, the company offers SGI management suite to manage various SGI systems; SGI foundation software, a software suite of support tools and utilities; SGI performance suite that enhances performance and provides additional capabilities for developers of HPC applications; and SGI networking solutions. In addition, it offers support, remote, installation, customer education, and professional services. The company provides its products to federal government, defense and strategic systems, weather and climate, physical and life sciences, energy, aerospace, automotive manufacturing, Internet, financial services, education and research institutions, and media and entertainment markets through direct sales force, system integrators, value-added resellers, original equipment manufacturers, and channel partners. The company was formerly known as Rackable Systems, Inc. and changed its name to Silicon Graphics International Corp. in May 2009. Silicon Graphics International Corp. was incorporated in 2002 and is headquartered in Milpitas, California.

UK's Atomic Weapons Establishment Successfully Installs New SGI Supercomputer

SGI announced that the UK's Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE) has completed installation of SGI's record-breaking high performance computing (HPC) system, SGI(r) ICE(TM) XA. The new system, comprised of two SGI ICE XA systems, integrates into AWE's existing production HPC system utilising two SGI ICE X systems. The new installation will significantly increase the organisation's supercomputing performance and enable AWE to further develop its complex scientific and technological capabilities, such as scientific modelling. AWE is responsible for the provision of nuclear warheads to support the UK's nuclear deterrent, Trident. This encompasses the initial concept, assessment and design of the warheads, through component manufacture and assembly, in-service support, decommissioning and then disposal.

Silicon Graphics International Corp. Announces Unaudited Consolidated Earnings Results for the First Quarter Ended September 25, 2015; Provides Earnings Guidance for the Full Year of 2015

Silicon Graphics International Corp. announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended September 25, 2015. For the quarter, the company reported revenue of $126,307,000 against $111,701,000 a year ago. Loss from operations was $9,191,000 against $10,110,000 a year ago. Loss before income taxes was $11,323,000 against $10,009,000 a year ago. Net loss was $11,572,000 against $10,333,000 a year ago. Basic and diluted net loss per share was $0.33 against $0.30 a year ago. Non-GAAP net loss was $5,346,000 or $0.15 per share against $4,977,000 or $0.14 per share a year ago. Three large deals contributed to the first quarter results, including the second of the 2 large DoD awards. For the full year of 2015, the company continues to expect, Revenue in the range of $600 to $625 million, or year-over-year growth of 15% - 20%; Non-GAAP gross margin between 26% and 27%; Non-GAAP operating expenses flat to down 5% year-over-year; Non-GAAP net income in the range of $0.25 to $0.35 per share after excluding approximately $17 million of adjustments; and GAAP net loss in the range of $0.11 to $0.21 per share.

Silicon Graphics International Corp. Announces Executive Changes

Silicon Graphics International Corp. announced that Robert J. Nikl, Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Finance, will be retiring from the company. Mr. Nikl has served as Executive Vice President of Finance and CFO since joining the company in May of 2012. Nikl will continue in his CFO role until the filing of the company's quarterly report for the fiscal first quarter of 2016, and will serve in an advisory capacity through the end of the calendar year. Concurrently, the company announced the appointment of Mekonnen Asrat to the position of Senior Vice President and CFO of the company . Mr. Asrat currently serves as Vice President, Finance, Corporate Controller and Principal Accounting Officer of the company and has been with the company since June 2012. As a result of his appointment to CFO, Mr. Asrat will be serving as both the Company's principal financial officer and principal accounting officer.
