The company operates through three segments: Aerospace, Equipment Manufacturing, and Precision Engineering. It designs and assembles modular or complete machines and equipment; designs, develops, and manufactures trim and form dies, and suspension tooling for hard disk drive parts; manufactures aircraft components and precision engineering parts; fabricates precision tools and machinery parts; and manufactures aircraft and other related equipment parts, spares, components, and precision engineering parts. The company also designs and assembles automation equipment with equipment control software; develops and produces computer process control systems for printed circuit board handling systems and component assembly lines; manufactures dies, jigs, parts, and cutting tools for disk drives, electronics, semi-conductor, and other industries; and offers design, manufacture, and service support for semiconductor, electronic, disk drive, medical, solar, LED, and other industrial equipment. Its products and solutions include test handlers, laser mark handlers, material handling systems, vision inspection solutions, factory automation solutions, original design manufacturing, contract manufacturing, system integration, precision metal volume and jobbing fabrication, precision metal fabrication, and large format machining. The company was formerly known as LKT Industrial Berhad and changed its name to SAM Engineering & Equipment (M) Berhad in September 2010. The company was founded in 1948 and is headquartered in Penang, Malaysia. SAM Engineering & Equipment (M) Berhad is a subsidiary of Singapore Precision Engineering Limited.

Sam Engineering and Equipment Malaysia Appoints Tan Kai Hoe as Non-Executive Chairman

Sam Engineering and Equipment Malaysia has appointed Tan Kai Hoe as Non-Executive Chairman. The effective date is August 26, 2015. Mr. Tan joined the Board of Accuron Technologies Limited in May 2014, and was appointed President & CEO from 1 August 2015. He was the Chief Executive of SPRING Singapore, from May 2013 to July 2015. Prior to joining SPRING Singapore, he was a career naval officer in the Republic of Singapore Navy. He has served in a range of command and staff positions including the Fleet Commander and the Chief of Staff - Naval Staff. Mr. Tan has also served on the boards of various companies and not-for-profit organizations. He is currently a Director of Singapore Aerospace Manufacturing Pte Ltd. and a member of its Executive Committee. He is also a member of the Temasek Polytechnic Board of Governors.

SAM Engineering & Equipment (M) Berhad announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended June 30, 2015. For the quarter, the company reported revenue of MYR 134,464,000 against MYR 93,157,000 a year ago. Profit before taxation was MYR 14,878,000 against MYR 2,120,000 a year ago. Profit attributable to owners of the company was MYR 13,253,000 against MYR 1,574,000 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share were 9.93 sen against 1.36 sen a year ago. Net cash from operating activities was MYR 8,221,000 against MYR 3,426,000 a year ago. Purchase of property, plant and equipment was MYR 277,000 against MYR 1,197,000 a year ago. Purchase of intangible assets was MYR 4,000 against MYR 35,000 a year ago.
