Starrett Company manufactures and sells industrial, professional, and consumer measuring and cutting tools and related products primarily in North America, Brazil, China, and the United Kingdom. Its products include precision tools, electronic gages, gage blocks, optical vision and laser measuring equipment, custom engineered granite solutions, tape measures, levels, chalk products, squares, band saw blades, hole saws, hacksaw blades, jig saw blades, and reciprocating saw blades, as well as M1 lubricant and precision ground flat stock. The company’s measuring tool products comprise micrometers, vernier calipers, height gages, depth gages, dial indicators, steel rules, and combination squares, as well as offers custom, non-contact, and in-process gaging products, such as optical, vision, and laser measurement systems; and manual and automated field of view measurement systems, force measurement products, and material test equipment. It also provides hand tools for measuring, marking, and layout activities to building trades. The company primarily distributes its precision hand tools, saw, and construction products through distributors and resellers. It serves the metalworking industry; automotive, aviation, marine, farm, and do-it-yourself customers; and tradesmen, such as builders, carpenters, plumbers, and electricians. The company was founded in 1880 and is headquartered in Athol, Massachusetts.

On June 3, 2015, The L. S. Starrett Company accepted the resignation of Stephen F. Walsh as Senior Vice President, Operations, effective June 30, 2015, and named James B. Taylor as Vice President Operations, effective as of the Resignation Date. Mr. Walsh will continue to serve as a director of the company.
