Its funeral service and cemetery operations include funeral service locations, cemeteries, funeral service/cemetery combination locations, crematoria, and related businesses. The company also provides professional services relating to funerals and cremations, including the use of funeral facilities and motor vehicles, and preparation and embalming services. In addition, it provides funeral-related merchandise, including caskets, casket memorialization products, burial vaults, cremation receptacles, cremation memorialization products, flowers, and other ancillary products and services at funeral service locations. Further, its cemeteries provide cemetery property interment rights, including developed lots, lawn crypts, mausoleum spaces, cremation niches, and cremation memorialization property; sell cemetery-related merchandise and services, including stone and bronze memorials, markers, merchandise installations, flowers, and burial openings and closings; and sell preneed cemetery property interment rights, and funeral and cemetery merchandise and services. As of December 31, 2014, the company operated 1,559 funeral service locations; and 466 cemeteries, including 258 funeral service/cemetery combination locations covering 45 states, 8 Canadian provinces, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. Service Corporation International was founded in 1962 and is headquartered in Houston, Texas.

Service Corporation International reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2015. For the quarter, the company reported revenues of $748.117 million compared to $745.495 million a year ago. Income from continuing operations before income taxes was $98.118 million compared to $63.958 million a year ago. Net income from continuing operations was $61.465 million compared to $41.251 million a year ago. Net income attributable to common stockholders was $61.375 million or $0.30 per basic and diluted share compared to $41.102 million or $0.19 per basic and diluted share a year ago. Net cash provided by operating activities was $188.772 million compared to $127.887 million a year ago. Capital expenditures were $28.298 million compared to $24.917 million a year ago. For the full year of 2015, the company’s guidance for capital spending for maintenance and Cemetery development remains unchanged at $130 million to $140 million. Deducting these recurring CapEx items from 2015 cash flow from operation expectations will result in free cash flow in 2015 continuing to range from $310 million to $370 million. This equates to about $1.65 per share free cash flow per share at the midpoint of this range. The company would like to reaffirm outlook for the full year of 2015 as it relates to cash flow from operations, excluding special items, of a range of $450 million to $500 million, as confidence in this range has been bolstered by strong first quarter operating results. The company expects to pay about $65 million in cash interest in the second quarter and about $81 million thereafter in 2015.
