The company also provides corporate banking services comprising corporate accounts, working capital and project finance, deferred payment guarantees, corporate term loans, structured finance, dealer and channel financing, equipment leasing, loan syndication, construction equipment loans, financing Indian firms overseas subsidiaries or JVs, and cash management products; products for NRIs, including accounts and deposits, loans, remittances, and investments; agricultural banking and micro credit to agriculturists and landless agricultural laborers; and current accounts, deposits, transaction banking, asset backed loans, fleet finance schemes, and collateral free loans for SME customers. In addition, it offers international banking products and services; broking, bill payment, and online railway ticket booking; and credit cards, life and general insurance, mutual funds, factoring, security trading, pension fund management, and custodial services, as well as primary dealership services in the money market. The company operates through 21,977 branches, including 6,108 branches of its 5 associate banks; and 51,491 ATMs. State Bank of India was founded in 1806 and is based in Mumbai, India.

SBI Seeks To Raise INR 150 billion Capital

State Bank of India (BSE:500112) has decided to raise up to INR 150 billion additional capital from the market in 2015. SBI’s “committee of directors for capital raising have an enabling approval from the shareholders for raising additional equity capital up to Rs. 15,000 crore by way of public issue (i.e. follow-on public issue) or rights issue or private placement, including qualified institutional placement (QIP) / global depository receipts (GDR) / American depository receipts (ADRs) and/or any other mode or a combination therefore,” SBI said in a filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange. The Government has said it would allow its stake in State-owned banks to fall to 52%. At present, the Government holds 58.6% in SBI. The committee has also decided to seek the Government of India or Reserve Bank of India’s approval for raising capital under the State Bank of India Act.

State Bank of India Announces Executive Changes

State Bank of India has announced the appointment of Mr. Sanjiv Chadha as Regional Head for the UK, taking over from Mr. Mrutyunjay Mahapatra in overseeing all activities of the bank in the UK. Mr. Mahapatra returns to India to take up a new role. Mr. Chadha takes up the Regional Head role with immediate effect, having most recently held the position of General Manager, Retail Banking, with SBI in India.

National Australia Bank Forges Closer Ties with the State Bank of India

National Australia Bank has signed an agreement to work closely with the State Bank of India on enhancing co-operation in financial services. The memorandum of understanding is the first signed by India's large financial institution with an Australian bank. It will allow the pair to work together on project finance and business and migrant banking.
