Sanderson Farms, Inc. reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended April 30, 2015. For the quarter, the company’s net sales were USD 716,592,000 compared with USD 660,717,000 for the same period a year ago, the result of the increase in pounds of poultry products sold, offset by the slight decrease in sales price per pound. Operating income was USD 109,522,000 compared to USD 78,491,000 a year ago. Income before income taxes was USD 108,878,000 compared to USD 77,792,000 a year ago. Net income was USD 71,246,000 or USD 3.13 per basic and diluted share compared to USD 50,988,000 or USD 2.21 per basic and diluted share. For the six months, the company’s net sales were USD 1,383,955,000 compared with USD 1,245,600,000 for the same period a year ago. Operating income was USD 212,579,000 compared to USD 123,690,000 a year ago. Income before income taxes was USD 211,568,000 compared to USD 122,108,000 a year ago. Net income was USD 137,749,000 or USD 6.00 per basic and diluted share compared to USD 79,859,000 or USD 3.46 per basic and diluted share a year ago. The company has spent USD 93.1 million through the first half of the year, of this total, it spent USD 46.4 million in Palestine and its capital budget also includes USD 27.5 million from St. Pauls. The company announced that for the balance of the year 2015 the company expects a tax rate of approximately 34.9%. The company now expects to spend approximately USD 161.2 million on capital projects during 2015, it intend to use cash flow from operations to fund the balance of capital budget. Depreciation and amortization is expects to be approximately USD 75 million for fiscal 2015.
