Sherritt International Corporation engages in the mining and refining of nickel from lateritic ores in Canada, Cuba, and Madagascar. Its Metals segment mines, processes, refines, and markets nickel and cobalt; and produces and sells agricultural fertilizers. This segment also owns and operates fertilizer, sulphuric acid, utilities, and storage facilities in Fort Saskatchewan. The company’s Oil and Gas segment is involved in the exploration and development of oil and gas properties in Cuba, Spain, Pakistan, and the United Kingdom. Its Power segment constructs and operates electricity generating plants that provide electricity in Cuba; and owns an electricity generating plant in Madagascar. As of December 31, 2014, this segment’s power generation facilities located in Cuba had a total capacity of 506 megawatts. The company’s Corporate and Other segment engages in evaluating, developing, and commercializing process technologies for natural resource based industries primarily for the hydrometallurgical recovery of non-ferrous metals. Sherritt International Corporation was incorporated in 1995 and is headquartered in Toronto, Canada.

Sherritt International Corporation reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2015. For the quarter, combined revenue was $278.3 million against $250.7 million a year ago. Adjusted EBITDA was $44.2 million against $54.9 million a year ago. Combined free cash flow was $11.2 million against combined negative free cash flow of $59.0 million a year ago. Net loss from continuing operations per share was $0.19 against $0.24 a year ago. Combined adjusted operating cash flow per share was $0.19 against $0.12 a year ago. Net loss from continuing operations were $56.8 million against $70.5 million a year ago. Adjusted net loss from continuing operations was $71.0 million or $0.24 per share against $58.4 million or $0.20 per share a year ago. The company provided production guidance for the full year of 2015. The company has lowered production guidance in Oil and Gas to 19,000 bpd from 20,000 bpd to largely reflect average production results to date from the wells drilled in the Puerto Escondido/Yumuri PSC extension area.

Sherritt International Corporation announced that the strike action by a portion of its employees at the Ambatovy plant near Toamasina, Madagascar has been resolved. As a result, normal operations have resumed and Sherritt confirms the 2015 production guidance previously provided.
