RWE Plans New JV with HEP

RWE is planning a new joint venture with Croatian state-owned energy utlity HEP after exiting their partnership on the local 210 MW thermal power plant (TPP) Plomin 2. RWE took the earliest possible option to exit the Plomin 2 shareholding structure after signing a build-own-transfer (BOT) deal with HEP in 1996.

RWE Announces Earnings Results for the First Quarter Ended March 2015; Provides Earnings Guidance for the Full Year 2015

RWE announced earnings results for the first quarter ended March 2015. For the period, net profit more than doubled to EUR 2.166 billion, but that was due to gains from the sale of the group's oil and gas unit RWE DEA. Underlying or operating profit fell by 3.4% to EUR 2.2 billion, while revenues increased by 2.9% to EUR 14.632 billion. EBITDA and operating results are down by 3% and 5%, respectively, mainly as a result of further deteriorating realized margins in the Conventional Power Generation business. Cash flows from operating activities was EUR 0.5 billion lower than previous years' cash flows. The net debt came down by EUR 3.3 billion after the closing of the RWE Dea transaction. For the full year 2015, the company expects underlying profits fall to EUR 6.1 billion - EUR 6.4 billion from EUR 7.1 billion in 2014. Net profit was projected to come out at EUR 1.1 billion - EUR 1.3 billion compared with EUR 1.2 billion last year.

Firms Show Interest In Ukrhydroenergo And Energoatom

European and American energy firms have shown interest in the privatization of Ukrainian energy assets, Energy and Coal Industry Minister of Ukraine, Volodymyr Demchyshyn said. The potential suitors have shown interest in acquisition of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC (Energoatom), All-Ukrainian Association Ukrhydroenergo, the gas transportation system. He said that the privatization of the companies is not currently being considered and is an issue of separate political decisions. The minister added that Chevron Corporation (NYSE:CVX), Royal Dutch Shell plc (ENXTAM:RDSA), Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM), Eni SpA (BIT:ENI) and RWE AG (DB:RWE) have shown interest in Ukrainian energy assets.
