RWE Announces Earnings Results for the Second Quarter and First Six Months Ended June 2015; Reaffirms Earnings Guidance for the Full Year 2015

RWE announced earnings results for the second quarter and first six months ended June 2015. For the quarter, the company posted a loss in the second quarter of the current year 2015. The company booked a net loss of EUR 424 million in the period from April to June, compared with a net profit of EUR 29 million a year earlier. Second-quarter sales fell by 3.4% to EUR 10.5 billion. For the first six months of the year 2015, the company’s underlying or operating profit fell by 7% to EUR 3.2 billion. The company said that the main contributing factor was the continued decline in margins in conventional electricity generation. Looking ahead to the full year 2015, the company announced that it was sticking to its forecast for a decline in operating profit to EUR 6.1 billion to EUR 6.4 billion and net profit to EUR 1.1 billion to EUR 1.3 billion.

RWE In Talks Over Stake Sale With Arab Investors

RWE AG (DB:RWE) is in talks with an unnamed Arab investor that may become a shareholder of RWE, Peter Terium, Chief Executive Officer of RWE, told journalists in conference call. Terium said the negotiations are ongoing and are about projects in the Gulf region, as well as the acquisition of a stake. However, a final decision has not been made yet. Reuters reported that the investor in question is Masdar. According to unnamed sources, the investor may buy a stake in a RWE arm, instead of buying a directly into the utility.

Hrvatska Elektroprivreda Forms Joint Venture with RWE

Hrvatska Elektroprivreda D.D. has formed a 50:50 joint venture (JV) with RWE AG for managing renewable energy projects. The newly formed JV will manage renewable energy projects in Croatia as well as in other Southeast European (SEE) markets. Headquartered in Zagreb, Croatia, the JV will be active in strategic assessment and analysis of potential investments in electricity production from renewable energy sources, development of decentralized projects, acquisitions, development of waste-to-energy projects, optimizing and increasing the efficiency of existing facilities and the provision of technical consulting services, with a focus on SEE markets.
