The company operates through three segments: Commercial Systems, Government Systems, and Information Management Services. The Commercial Systems segment provides aviation electronics systems, products, and services comprising integrated avionics systems; integrated cabin electronics systems; communications systems and products; navigation systems and products; situational awareness and surveillance systems and products; electro-mechanical systems; simulation and training systems; and maintenance, repairs, parts, after-sales support services, and aftermarket used equipment. This segment serves original equipment manufacturers of commercial air transport, business and regional aircraft, commercial airlines, and business aircraft operators. The Government Systems segment provides defense-related systems, products, and services comprising communications systems and products; avionics sub-systems; precision targeting and range and training systems; cockpit display products; and maintenance, repair, parts, after-sales support services, and aftermarket used equipment. This segment serves U.S. Department of Defense, other ministries of defense, other government agencies, and defense contractors. The Information Management Services segment offers voice and data communication services; flight support services; airport communications and information systems; train dispatching and information systems; and mission critical security systems. This segment serves commercial airlines, business aircraft operators, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, airport and critical infrastructure operators, and passenger and freight railroads. The company markets its products directly to customers, as well as through sales force, dealers, and sales representatives. Rockwell Collins, Inc. was founded in 1933 and is headquartered in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Rockwell Collins Wins Contract from Coast Guard to Help with HC-144 Upgrade

Rockwell Collins gets $12 million from Coast Guard to help with HC-144 upgrade. The Coast Guard is upgrading its HC-144A Ocean Sentry medium-range maritime patrol aircraft by replacing the cockpit control and display unit, which is used in flight management. Once the technology refresh is done, the aircraft will be designated the HC-144B. As part of the upgrade project, the Coast Guard awarded Rockwell Collins a $12 million contract to cover the upgrade of two HC-144A aircraft, one for prototyping and the other for validation and verification. The Coast Guard has a fleet of HC-144 is built by Airbus Group. Once the new configuration is approved, the Coast Guard plans to upgrade the remaining aircraft with components supplied by Rockwell Collins.

Rockwell Collins Introduces New Features to ARINCDirectSM Flight Operations System for Business Aviation Operators

Rockwell Collins announced a series of updates to its ARINCDirectSM Flight Operations System (FOS) including the ability to integrate with new tools and the launch of a new vendor alliance charter management program. The latest FOS release features a more intuitive, mobile-friendly, touch-screen user interface for tablets and smart phones. In addition, by being integrated with Rockwell Collins' ARINCDirect safety management tools, FOS now provides access to flight risk assessment tools as well as fatigue risk management provided through the Pulsar Infomatics Aviation Fatigue Meter suite and the SAFE tool developed by Fatigue Risk Management Science Limited. With these enhancements, customers can instantly identify fatigue hot spots across their scheduled operations, design effective fatigue migration strategies and view interactive data reports. The company also launched the Rockwell Collins Vendor Alliance for Charter Management. The new program allows charter operators who use FOS to make the marketplace aware of empty, transient and home base availability. ARINCDirect is the single most comprehensive portfolio of flight support solutions in the business aviation industry. It offers its more than 3,500 flight support services customers around the globe the latest in intuitive flight planning using online and mobile platforms; regional and international trip support; comprehensive weather services; a full spectrum of cabin connectivity options; and flexible and integrated flight operations and scheduling services.

Rockwell Collaborates with Hawaiian Airlines and Inmarsat to Evaluate Future Air Navigation Systems

Rockwell Collins Inc. has collaborated with Hawaiian Airlines Inc. and Inmarsat plc to enable operational evaluation of the Future Air Navigation Systems, or FANS, using SwiftBroadband, or SBB, service. The Rockwell Collins ARINC aviation communications network establishes the links and provides a managed service between the Inmarsat ground stations that enable the aircraft to seamlessly communicate and exchange ACARS, CPDLC and IP connectivity with Hawaiian Airlines' host systems, ground crews and regulatory agencies anywhere in the world without interruption.
