The company offers its products to customers covered by third party payors, such as insurance companies, prescription benefit management companies, government agencies, private employers, and other managed care providers. It has a strategic alliance with GNC. As of April 20, 2015, the company operated approximately 4,600 stores in 31 states of the United States, and the District of Columbia. Rite Aid Corporation was founded in 1927 and is headquartered in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania.

Rite Aid Corporation announced that Steve Rempel, has been named as company's senior vice president and chief information officer. In this position, Rempel will have responsibility for all aspects of the company’s technology and information operations, including computer systems, network infrastructure, telecommunications and data security as well as the continued development and execution of company's immediate and long-term information technology strategy. Rite Aid Corporation announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the fourth quarter and full year ended February 28, 2015. For the quarter, the company reported revenue was $6,847.93 million against $6,597.46 million a year ago. Income before income taxes was $119.07 million against $49.37 million a year ago. Net income attributable to common stockholders – diluted was $1,836.4 million or $1.79 diluted per share against $56.74 million or $0.06 diluted per share a year ago. Adjusted EBITDA was $343.29 million against $356.33 million a year ago. Net cash provided by operating activities was $175 million against $194.13 million a year ago. Payments for property, plant and equipment was $101.89 million against $78.6 million a year ago.
