Rona Inc. Opens New Store in Rockland, Ontario

RONA Inc. has announced the opening of a new store in Rockland, Ontario, owned by the Lalonde family, J. Lalonde & Fils. Located 3015 Richelieu, this new store offers 15,000 square feet of retail space in addition to a 75,000 square feet lumberyard with a 6,000 square feet drive-thru. The Lalondes have invested $6 million for the new RONA in Rockland, thus creating 40 jobs in the local community.

Rona Inc. Reports Consolidated Earnings Results for the First Quarter Ended March 29, 2015; Provides Capex Guidance for the Full Year of 2015

Rona Inc. reported consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 29, 2015. For the first quarter, the company reported consolidated revenues rose to CAD 778.8 million, up 1.9% over CAD 764.3 million for the first quarter of 2014. This mainly reflects an increase of CAD 29.3 million, or 5.9%, in the Retail segment, stemming from a solid performance in Western Canada and repositioning of the Réno-Dépôt banner in Québec. Adjusted EBITDA rose to CAD 12.2 million, or 1.6% of revenues, compared to CAD 10.0 million, or 1.3% of revenues in the first quarter of 2014. The increase reflects the positive impact of comparable sales growth in the Retail segment on the consolidated gross margin, which rose 100 basis points over the same period a year earlier. Adjusted net loss attributable to participating shares amounted to CAD 11.2 million, or CAD 0.10 per share basic and diluted, compared to CAD 14.4 million, or CAD 0.12 per share basic and diluted, in the first quarter of 2014. EBITDA was CAD 12.1 million against CAD 7.9 million a year ago. Net loss attributable to participating shares was CAD 11.7 million or CAD 0.11 per basic and diluted share against CAD 16.5 million or CAD 0.14 per basic and diluted share a year ago. Despite the new stores opening, total CapEx stood at CAD 11.6 million during the first quarter, only up slightly from CAD 10.8 million last year. As a reminder, the company's 2015 budget calls for approximately CAD 100 million in total CapEx including new stores.
