Repsol, S.A., an integrated energy company, engages in upstream and downstream activities worldwide. The company is involved in the exploration, development, and production of crude oil and natural gas; transportation of oil products, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and natural gas; refining and production of a range of oil products; and retail of oil products, oil derivatives, petrochemicals, LPG, and natural gas. It also engages in the generation, transportation, distribution, and supply of electricity. The company offers asphalts; specialized products; petrol, gas oils, fuel oils, and petcoke; butane and propane gases; lubricants; petrochemicals, glycols, polypropylene, rubber, polyethylene, polyols, and propylenes; AutoGas, an alternative to traditional fuels; cards for businesses; vehicle maintenance; and marine services, as well as other products and services. In addition, it installs, operates, and manages fuel service stations, as well as vehicle repair service stations; provides reinsurance, insurance brokerage, maintenance and human resource, security, and finance services, as well as holds securities; and develops and constructs offshore wind energy. The company was formerly known as Repsol YPF, S.A. and changed its name to Repsol, S.A. in May 2012. Repsol, S.A. was founded in 1927 and is headquartered in Madrid, Spain.

Repsol Announces New Gas Discovery in Bolivia

Repsol S.A. has announced a new gas discovery in Bolivia. The discovery, in the Margarita-Huacaya block, increases reserves in the Caipipendi area and bolsters Repsol's gas production in Bolivia. Investment in Phase III of the Margarita-Huacaya project is expected to reach $293 million by 2018, strengthening Repsol's commitment as a strategic partner of the Bolivian government. Repsol currently produces 18 million cubic meters of gas in Bolivia, having achieved early the production expected for 2016.

Repsol S.A. Reports Earnings Results for the First Quarter Ended March 2015

Repsol S.A. reported earnings results for the first quarter ended March 2015. For the quarter, the company's profit fell by 6% compared with the same period last year following a sharp drop in oil prices and interruptions in Libyan production. The company's net profit for January through March was EUR 761 million, down from the EUR 807 million made in the first three months of 2014. The company's profit was up at EUR 928 million against EUR 532 million last year. Earnings before interests, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) was declined 18.3% to EUR 962 million. Its downstream operations posted an 84% surge in earnings in March quarter 2015 to EUR 534 million on improved refining margins, but this was offset by a poor showing from its upstream segment. The company upstream operations incurred a EUR 190 million loss in the first three months the year, reversing a profit of EUR 255 million made in the same period last year.
