SPAR Partners with Ramayana to Expand Supermarkets Business in Indonesia

SPAR International and PT. Ramayana Lestari Sentosa Tbk ('Ramayana') have entered into a partnership agreement to open 30 new SPAR supermarkets across Indonesia within the next three years. This deal is part of Ramayana's plan to expand its food retail business. The new agreement with SPAR International will rebrand Ramayana's existing stores to SPAR, in addition to the development of new store sites nationwide. The first SPAR store, under the plan, will be operational before the end of 2014 in Indonesia.

Ramayana To Reportedly Divest Stake In Supermarket Business

Ramayana Lestari Sentosa tbk PT (JKSE:RALS) seeks to divest a stake in its supermarket business to a foreign investor in a deal valued about $300 million, people with knowledge of the matter said. Ramayana’s Corporate Secretary Setyadi Surya had confirmed plans to sell a stake in the supermarket operations. He added that a sale could bring in a foreign partner to help develop the business. People with knowledge of the deal said that the company intend to send out an information memorandum seeking buyers soon and plan to finalize the stake sale in the second half of the year.
