Shell Changes Divestment Plan

Royal Dutch Shell plc (ENXTAM:RDSA) changed its planned divestment strategy in the Danish market. Shell has planned to sell off its refinery in Fredericia and 307 filling stations individually and to different buyers, instead of divesting them as a combined package.

Shell Opens GTL Base Oil Facility in Dubai

Shell has opened a Gas-To-Liquid (GTL) base oil hub in Jebel Ali: the first delivery of GTL base oil was made in late December 2014. Base oil is a key component in finished oils and GTL base oil specifically enables the development of premium oils for engines, as well as in speciality products, including process oils and transformer fluids. This new facility in Jebel Ali is Shell's fourth GTL base oil storage hub alongside its existing hubs in Houston, Hamburg and Hong Kong. The new addition completes the full global reach of Shell's supply of GTL base oil. The hub will cater to customers in the Middle East and to certain markets beyond such as India and Pakistan.

Royal Dutch Shell Plc and Qatar Petroleum Scrap Al Karaana Project

Royal Dutch Shell Plc and Qatar Petroleum will not proceed with the proposed Al Karaana petrochemicals project. The two companies decided to stop further work on the project after an evaluation of commercial quotations from engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) bidders, which showed high capital costs. The Al Karaana project envisioned the construction of a petrochemicals complex in the city of Ras Laffan north of Qatar. The complex was to be operated as an 80/20 joint venture between QP and Shell. The two companies inked heads of agreement to initiate the project back in December 2011.
