Petrobras Argentina S.A. operates as an integrated energy company. Its Oil and Gas Exploration and Production segment is engaged in the oil and gas exploration and production activities primarily in Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador, Mexico, and Venezuela. As of December 31, 2013, this segment’s liquid hydrocarbon and natural gas proved reserves totaled 205.1 million barrels of oil equivalent, including 82.3 million barrels of oil equivalent and 736.8 billion cubic feet of natural gas. The company’s Refining and Distribution segment operates a refinery at Bahía Blanca that produces gasoline, diesel, fuel oil, asphalts and liquefied gases, and intermediate fuel oils; and operates a network of approximately 268 gas stations comprising 261 stations under the Petrobras brand and 31 Spacio 1 convenience stores. Petrobras Argentina S.A.’s Petrochemicals segment produces and sells a range of products, such as intermediate gasoline, aromatic solvents, hexane and other hydrogenated paraffinic solvents, propellants for the cosmetic industry, monomer styrene, rubbers, and polymers. Its Gas and Energy segment is involved in the sale of gas; provision of brokerage and trading services; and transportation of gas in southern Argentina, as well as in the generation and distribution of electricity through hydro electrical and renewable sources. The company was founded in 1946 and is based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Petrobras Argentina S.A. is a subsidiary of Petrobras Participaciones S.L.

Petrobras Argentina SA Enters Farm-In Arrangement with High Luck Group Limited

The Board of New Times Energy Corporation Limited announced that Petrobras Argentina SA (PESA) accepted the Farm-in Offer from High Luck Group Limited, pursuant to which High Luck has conditionally agreed to acquire, and PESA has conditionally agreed to dispose of, 50% of the Participating Interest in the Chirete Block in consideration of High Luck performing, or causing to perform, the drilling, logging, testing and completion of an Exploration Well pursuant to the terms of the Contract and the Joint Operation Agreement, and paying all of the costs to be incurred in respect thereof in the amount of approximately USD 8 million. The Chirete Block comprises an area of approximately 1,793 square kilometers located in the province of Salta, Argentina. As at the date of this announcement, PESA is the holder of the exploration permit for a term of two years commencing on November 17, 2013 in connection with the exploration, development and production of hydrocarbons (including crude oil and natural gas) in the Chirete Block and is the sole owner of the Participating Interest. The Chirete Block is currently in its second exploration period and during which at least one Exploration Well is required to be drilled pursuant to the Contract.
