Further, it operates as a rooftop solar power producer; and owns and operates hydropower facilities. Additionally, the company holds interests in various sectors, such as specialty minerals, cement, aggregates, concrete, oil, natural gas, wines and spirits, electricity, energy and environmental services, water and waste management services, as well as testing, inspection, and certification. Power Corporation of Canada was founded in 1925 and is based in Montréal, Canada.

Power Corporation of Canada reported unaudited earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2015. For the quarter, the company reported operating earnings of CAD 353 million against CAD 266 million a year ago. Operating earnings (attributable to participating shareholders) was CAD 349 million or CAD 0.76 per share against CAD 224 million or CAD 0.49 per share a year ago. Net earnings (attributable to participating shareholders) was CAD 354 million or CAD 0.77 per share against CAD 242 million or CAD 0.53 per share a year ago.

The board of directors of Power Corporation of Canada declared quarterly dividends on the corporation's preferred shares of 1986 Series at a floating rate equal to one quarter of 70% of the average prime rate of two major Canadian chartered banks, Series A with 35 cents, Series B with 33.4375 cents, Series C with 36.25 cents, Series D with 31.25 cents and Series G with 35 cents having record date of July 23, 2015 and payable on July 15, 2015. The board of directors also declared an increase of the quarterly dividend from 29 cents to 31.125 cents per share on the Participating Preferred Shares and the Subordinate Voting Shares of the Corporation, payable on June 30, 2015 to shareholders of record June 9, 2015.
