Polaris Materials Corporation engages in the development and operation of construction aggregate properties and projects in North America. The company holds an 88% ownership interest in the Orca Quarry, a sand and gravel project located to the north east coast of Vancouver Island west of Port McNeill, British Columbia; a 70% ownership in the Richmond and Long Beach terminals in California; and a 70% interest in the Eagle Rock Quarry project, a granite resource situated on deep tidewater south of Port Alberni on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. It serves customers located in California and Hawaii for the production of concrete for building and construction purposes. Polaris Materials Corporation has a strategic alliance with Cemex, Inc. for the development of terminals; and for the purchase and distribution of marine supplied construction aggregates, sand, gravel, and crushed rock on the west cost of the United States. The company was formerly known as Polaris Minerals Corporation and changed its name to Polaris Materials Corporation in January 2015. Polaris Materials Corporation was incorporated in 1999 and is headquartered in Vancouver, Canada.

Polaris Materials Corporation Announces Management Changes, Effective October 1, 2015

Polaris Materials Corporation announced a management succession plan effective October 1, 2015. Herb Wilson, who has been with the company since July, 2001, and President and Chief Executive Officer and a director since January 2009, will become Executive Vice Chair of the Board of Directors on October 1, 2015. He will be succeeded as President and Chief Executive Officer on that date by Ken Palko, the company's Vice President of Operations. Mr. Palko has been with the company since February 2008, prior to which he worked for Dufferin Aggregates (part of the Holcim Cement Group) and Lafarge Aggregates. The chief executive officer of the company's US distribution and marketing subsidiary, Bill Terry, is retiring on September 30, 2015, and his duties will be assumed by Scott Dryden, the company's current Vice President of Business Development. Mr. Dryden has worked in the marine transportation industry, primarily on the west coast of North America, for the past seven years, including five years with CSL International Inc. Darren McDonald CPA, CMA, the company's Vice President Finance and CFO will have an expanded role that will also include responsibility for the company's secretarial function.

For the quarter, sales was $718,000 tons, 14% higher than in the prior year generating revenue of $10.5 million which was 23% higher than the first quarter of 2014. Revenue increased by 23% over the comparable quarter last year, due impart to an increase in average selling price of $1.15 per ton. The company had net income of $246,000 or $0.00 per share compared with a net loss of $1.6 million or $0.02 loss per share in the prior year period, an improvement of $1.8 million. Net profit for the period attributed to shareholders of the company was $90,000 against net loss for the period attributed to shareholders of the company of $1,526,000 a year ago. EBITDA was $1,143,000 or $0.01 per share against LBITDA of $475,000 or $0.01 per share a year ago. Adjusted EBITDA was $1,509,000 or $0.02 per share against adjusted LBITDA of $304,000 or $0.00 per share a year ago.
