PPB Group Berhad, an investment holding company, engages in the food, manufacturing and services, entertainment, property, and agribusiness sectors primarily in Asia. It is involved in flour milling, animal feed manufacturing, and wheat and maize trading activities; marketing and distribution of edible oils and consumer products; manufacture of toilet requisites and household products; and the exhibition and distribution of cinematograph films. The company also engages in the construction works in the water and environmental industry; trading and manufacturing of chemical products; production of day-old chicks, eggs, and other related downstream activities; production and distribution of frozen foods and bakery products; oil palm plantation activities; processing of manure into organic fertilizers; and engineering contracts. In addition, the company develops and maintains software; provides information technology and consultation services, as well as sells related products; invests in quoted and unquoted shares; and offers refuse, liquid waste, and garbage collection and disposal services. Further, it trades in contact glue; operates cafes; sells iron-ores; and develops and invests in commercial and residential properties, as well as rents commercial properties. Additionally, it provides polyethylene and polypropylene woven bags and fabrics, flexible intermediate bulk container bags, adhesives, resins, additives, formaldehyde, and phenoset microspheres; advertising contractor and consultancy services; and management, transportation, packaging, and shipping services. It operates a network of 284 screens in 31 locations. The company was formerly known as Perlis Plantations Berhad and changed its name to PPB Group Berhad in 2000. The company was founded in 1968 and is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. PPB Group Berhad is a subsidiary of Kuok Brothers Sdn Berhad.

PPB Group Berhad Reports Unaudited Consolidated Earnings Results for the First Quarter Ended March 31, 2015; Provides Financial Guidance for the Year 2015

PPB Group Berhad reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2015. For the quarter, the company reported pre-tax profit rose 53% to MYR 267 million from MYR 174 million registered in the same quarter last year. Revenue increased 11% to MYR 977 million from MYR 883 million previously, primarily driven by improved revenue in the grains and agribusiness, environmental engineering and utilities, film exhibition and distribution segments. Profit attributable to owners of the parent was MYR 232,915,000 or 19.65 sen per basic share compared to MYR 144,272,000 or 12.17 sen per basic share a year ago. Net cash generated from operating activities was MYR 40,195,000 compared to MYR 92,470,000 a year ago. Purchase of property, plant and equipment, investment properties, biological assets and other intangible assets was MYR 60,553,000 compared to MYR 34,310,000 a year ago. Domestic demand in Malaysia and in the ASEAN economies remains as the main driving factor for the Group's local and regional core businesses. Nevertheless, the overall consolidated financial results in 2015 will continue to be substantially supported by Wilmar's business performance.
