panasonic corp (PCRFF) Key Developments

Panasonic Corporation to Launch Enhancement-Mode Gallium Nitride Power Transistor

Panasonic Corporation has announced that it will launch an enhancement-mode gallium nitride, or GaN, power transistor. The GaN is encapsulated into 8x8 dual-flat no-lead (DFN) surface-mount package. It is possible to mount the package on small area where it is difficult to mount conventionally and it is contribute to the reduction of the power consumption of industrial and consumer electronics equipment. The breakdown voltage of the transistors is 600V in an enhancement mode, and the products have achieved a high-speed switching of 200V/ns and a low on-resistance of 54 to 154 mO. The company will ship product samples, 10A type (PGA26E19BV) and 15A type (PGA26E08BV), in July 2015. Power transistor is a semiconductor device to control power supply. GaN is one of remarkable semiconductor compounds and when it is applied to transistor, higher switching performance and higher break down voltage is expected than those of silicon (Si) and silicon carbide (4H-SiC). The conventional type of GaN power transistor is encapsulated into high heat diffusion surface-mount package TO220 (size:15 x 9.9 x 4.6mm), however the package is not enough to be small and it is limited the mounting area on the printed circuit board in the electronics equipment. The parasitic inductance reduce using surface mounting package and as a result the intrinsic GaN power transistor character, high switching performance, is brought out in smaller size 8 x 8 x 1.25mm under 600V high voltage. The power transistor is accelerated to introduce into electronics equipment and it contributes the reduction of the power consumption.

Panasonic Corporation to Expand Solar Module HITTM Production Capacity to 1 GW

Panasonic Corporation announced that it will boost production capacity of solar cells and modules for its solar panels HITTM at its two domestic plants. The company will invest JPY 9.5 billion to expand production lines at the Shimane Factory (Shimane SANYO Electric Co. Ltd.), which produces solar cells, and at the Shiga Factory, a module production site. The expansion will add a combined production capacity of 150 megawatts a year, lifting Panasonic’s total solar module production capacity of HITTM to more than 1 gigawatt by March 2016, including that of manufacturing facilities in Kedah, Malaysia, and Nishikinohama, Osaka, in addition to the two domestic factories.

Panasonic Showcases End-to-End Food Services Technology Solutions

Panasonic will showcase its latest integrated technology solutions for restaurants at the National Restaurant Association (NRA) Show in Chicago, IL. Panasonic's easily scalable, end-to-end solutions were designed to enhance business efficiency and improve customer experiences, and incorporate a wide variety of Panasonic hardware including POS workstations, rugged handheld tablets for line busting, mobile POS as well as drive-thru and security solutions. Rugged Tablet Solutions; As the EMV mandate approaches, requiring operators to implement chip-and-pin technology or face fraud liability, Panasonic developed the Toughpad® FZ-R1, the worlds first 7 all-in-one mobile POS tablet running Windows 8.1 for line busting and tableside ordering while providing secure transaction capabilities. With its integrated EMV reader with PIN pad, encrypted mag stripe reader and NFC compatibility, the Intel®-based Toughpad FZ-R1 can handle all forms of electronic payment, giving operators and their customers confidence that financial data is secure. Panasonic will also be demoing a number of other rugged tablet solutions for line busting, tableside ordering and workforce management. Rugged tablets, such as the 10.1 Toughpad FZ-G1 enable restaurant managers to come out of the back office and onto the restaurant floor, increasing ROI and productivity. Drive-Thru Solutions; In an effort to increase efficiencies and sales in the drive-thru, Panasonic developed the fully-integrated Digital Drive-Thru. The solution combines scalable weatherproof, glare-resistant outdoor displays with outdoor mounting, integrated audio and video capabilities, including a built-in order confirmation screen eliminating the need for a separate, standalone unit. The Digital Drive-Thru creates a platform for digital marketing and real-time promotions, unifies menu management and improves the overall customer experience. Point-of-Sale Solutions; The company will also highlight its latest POS workstation, the Stingray III®. This enterprise-grade POS device features an all-in-one flexible, modular design, and is compatible with a variety of Microsoft Windows operating systems. The Stingray III™s versatile design features interchangeable touchscreens, allowing easy customization to meet individual retailer requirements with unlimited mounting options. The increased modularity of the Stingray III also makes servicing and replacing parts a simpler process, allowing the workstation to be easily maintained, reducing total cost of ownership and increasing ROI. New POS Software Solution; Panasonic's System Manager Pro (SMP) Software Suite helps operators manage daily operations easily and more efficiently. It's a powerful software solution that bridges communications from front-of-house to any remote location for consolidated management of Panasonic purpose-built POS systems. SMP allows access to vital information on inventory planning, purchasing and storage, employee scheduling, labor cost, time and attendance regulation and POS operations - all from a single platform with versatile report generation capabilities. Security and Management Solutions; Additionally, Panasonic will showcase its Virtual Site Manager, an integrated solution designed to provide remote store management from anywhere with the click of a mouse or tap on a tablet PC screen. Combining the power of video surveillance technology with point-of-sale systems, the solution pairs recorded video footage with transactional data, giving operators critical insight that can improve store operations, reduce loss and bring incremental revenue. In addition to preventing shrinkage, video analytics can provide invaluable data that can be used to streamline procedures, enhance marketing efforts and inform merchandising strategy. With just a few clicks, operators can verify and control inventory, view traffic volume and patterns and confirm employee training.
