Petron Corporation operates as an oil refining and marketing company in the Philippines. It processes crude oil into a range of petroleum products, including liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, kerosene, industrial fuel oil, solvents, asphalts, mixed xylene, and propylene. The company supplies fuel oil, diesel, and LPG to various industrial customers; supplies jet fuel at key airports to international and domestic carriers; and retails gasoline, diesel, and auto LPG to motorists and public transport operators. In addition, it sells its LPG under the Gasul and Fiesta brands to households and other industrial consumers through dealership network; engages in non-life insurance and re-insurance businesses; and operates service stations, retails outlets, restaurants, convenience stores, and others. Further, the company is involved in generation and sale of electricity; and sells polypropylene resins to domestic plastic converters of yarn, film, and injection molding grade plastic products. It operates approximately 2,200 service stations. The company exports its petroleum and non-fuel products to Asian countries, such as China, Brunei, Taiwan, Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore. The company was formerly known as Petrophil Corporation and changed its name to Petron Corporation in February 1988. The company was founded in 1933 and is based in Mandaluyong City, the Philippines. Petron Corporation is a subsidiary of SEA Refinery Corporation.

Petron Corporation Announces Consolidated Earnings Results for the Second Quarter and First Half of 2015

Petron Corporation announced consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and first half of 2015. For the quarter, the company's net income surged to PHP 3.2 billion in the second quarter of 2015, up from PHP 789 million in the same period of 2014, driven by higher sales volumes and better margins as oil prices stabilized during the period. Consolidated sales volumes for the Philippines and Malaysia continue to increase as the company accelerated its retail network expansion. For the first half of 2015, the company posted a net income of PHP 3.408 billion, a 13% increase from the PHP 3.014 billion over the same period last year. Operating income increased by 51% to PHP 8.9 billion compared to PHP 5.9 billion a year ago. Income from operations was PHP 8,876 million against PHP 6,016 million a year ago. Net sales were PHP 186,051 million against PHP 258,230 million a year ago. The company's sales volumes rose by 9% year on year to 47.4 million barrels in the first half of 2015 from 43.3 million barrels in the first half of 2014. Petron's sales performance in the Philippines was boosted as initial volumes from the commissioning and stabilization runs of its Refinery Master Plan­2 (RMP-2) started to produce more high-value products despite a crude diet that now includes cheaper medium and heavy crudes.

The board approved the dividend of PHP 15.75 per share on Series 2A preferred shares and PHP 17.14575 per share on Series 2B preferred shares for the fourth quarter of 2015, payable on November 3, 2015 with record date of October 16, 2015. The board also approved the dividend of PHP 15.75 per share on Series 2A preferred shares and PHP 17.14575 per share on Series 2B preferred shares for the first quarter of 2016, payable on February 3, 2016 with record date of January 18, 2016. The board has also announced the appointment of Mr. Dennis S. Janson as Assistant Vice President and Controller and Mr. Rolando B. Salonga as Assistant Vice President ­ Operations effective September 1, 2015.
