pressure biosciences inc (PBIO) Details

Pressure BioSciences, Inc. develops pressure cycling technology (PCT) in the United States. Its PCT technology uses alternating cycles of hydrostatic pressure between ambient and ultra-high levels to control the actions of molecules in biological samples and is used in various areas of life sciences, including genomic, proteomic, and small molecule sample preparation, as well as in pathogen inactivation, protein purification, control of chemical reactions, and immunodiagnostics areas of life sciences. The company offers Barocycler instrumentation products, including Barocycler NEP3229, Barocycler NEP2320, Barocycler HUB440, PCT MicroTube Adapter Kit, and The Shredder SG3 laboratory instrumentation that subjects a sample to cycles of pressure from ambient to ultra-high levels and then back to ambient. It also distributes Constant Systems cell disruption equipment, parts, and consumables. In addition, the company offers Baracycler consumable products, such as PULSE Tubes, which transmit the power of PCT from the Barocycler instrument to the sample; Non-Disk PULSE Tubes that offer variable sample volumes; ProteoSolve for Systems Biology, which is a PCT-dependent method for the simultaneous extraction, isolation, and fractionation of nucleic acids, proteins, and lipids from animal and plant samples used in laboratory research. Its Baracycler consumable products also include ProteoSolve for Conventional Extraction that is a PCT-dependent kit for the extraction of proteins from various samples; and mitochondria isolation kits that contain the chemical ingredients required for a scientist to extract mitochondria from skeletal muscle and lung tissue for subsequent analysis. Pressure BioSciences, Inc. serves researchers at academic laboratories; government agencies; and biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and other life science institutions. The company, formerly known as Boston Biomedica, Inc., was founded in 1978 and is based in South Easton, Massachusetts.

Pressure BioSciences, Inc. Reports Audited Consolidated Earnings Results for the Year Ended December 31, 2014; Provides Revenue Guidance for 2015

Pressure BioSciences, Inc. reported audited consolidated earnings results for the year ended December 31, 2014. Total revenue was $1,374,744 compared to $1,503,288 for the same period in 2013, an 8.6% decrease. This decrease in total revenue of $128,544 was primarily due to the loss of $432,016 in grant revenue in the year ended December 31, 2014, offset to a significant degree by the $303,472 increase in products and services revenue. Operating loss for the year ended December 31, 2014 was $3,338,350 compared to $3,327,192 for the same period in 2013. Net loss applicable to common shareholders was $6,251,726 or $0.44 per basic and diluted share compared to $5,247,449 or $0.44 per basic and diluted share for the same period in 2013. The company believes products and services revenue will grow at an even greater rate in 2015, due in part to the 2014 release of two new instrument systems (Barozyme HT 48 and the HUB 880) and a new consumable (micro-Pestle). This anticipated revenue growth in core products and services area, combined with revenue now being received from the recently awarded and announced $1,000,000 NIH SBIR II DNA grant, lead the company to believe that target of $2 million in total revenue for fiscal 2015 is realistic.
