delta air lines inc (OYC) Key Developments

Delta Air Lines Inc. Reports Operating Results for February 2015

Delta Air Lines Inc. reported operating results for February 2015. The company said that key revenue measure fell 1.5% in February mostly because the strong dollar reduced the value of international ticket sales. The figure is revenue for each seat flown one mile. It rises when airlines fill more seats or charge higher average fares. Domestic operations and corporate accounts continued to generate strong revenue. Traffic rose 5.1%, as passengers flew 13.66 billion miles last month. Domestic traffic rose 7.2%, while international gained 1.9%. The company added 6.3% to its passenger-carrying capacity - usually by adding flights or using bigger planes - so there were more empty seats. The average flight was 80.3% full, down from 81.2% in February 2014. International service was added faster than the increase in traffic.

Delta Air Lines, Inc. Provides Earnings Guidance for the First Quarter Ending March 2015 and Operating Cash Flow Guidance for 2015

Delta Air Lines, Inc. provided earnings guidance for the first quarter ending March 2015 and operating cash flow guidance for 2015. The company expects in 2015 to generate somewhere between $7 billion and $8 billion of operating cash flow in business and free cash flow to be north of $4 billion. In 2014, the company ended the year at $7.3 billion of adjusted net debt, and expects by the end of 2015 that number will probably start with a 5 at the end of 2015. So it may not be 5 even, but it'll start with a 5. For the first quarter ending March 2015, now excluding the impact, the company forecast is expected to come in with an operating margin somewhere around 11%. So it's at the low end of the original guidance that it provided. The guidance that it provided for the quarter, at the beginning of the quarter, was an in-op margin of about 11% to 13%. Now that 11%, again, is excluding the hedge restructuring. It's using the fuel guidance of $2.60 to $2.65. The company expects 8% to 9% on a reported basis, including the effects of the out-of-quarter item.
