This segment serves contractors; and owners and operators of geothermal power plants, interstate natural gas pipelines, gas processing plants, and cement plants, as well as companies in other energy-intensive industrial processes. The company was founded in 1965 and is based in Reno, Nevada. Ormat Technologies, Inc. is a subsidiary of Ormat Industries Ltd.

Ormat Technologies Inc. Signs Geothermal Power Purchase Agreement with Southern California Utility

Ormat Technologies has signed a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Southern California Public Power Authority (SCPPA) to supply electricity from the second phase of geothermal facility in Mineral County, Nevada, US. Under the terms of the deal, SCPPA will pay a rate of $81.25 per megawatt hour to Ormat. The electricity being purchased will be sold to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP). The LADWP will receive power through NV Energy's statewide transmission system, including one Nevada transmission line that links service areas in both northern and southern Nevada.

Ormat Technologies Inc. Reportedly Mulls Sale Of Geothermal Facilities To Northleaf Capital Partners

Ormat Technologies Inc. (NYSE:ORA) is reportedly seeking to sell Geothermal facilities to Northleaf Capital Partners. “Ormat Technologies Inc (NYSE:ORA) will sell a 40% interest in 106 MW of geothermal facilities to Canada's Northleaf Capital Partners,” the Pacific Business News said on February 27, 2015. “The value of the deal is estimated at approximately $180 million,” the daily said, citing public records. “The transaction, expected to be completed on March 15, will include the divestment of a minority stake in Ormat Technologies' 38-MW geothermal plant on Hawaii's Big Island. Ormat will provide day-to-day management control for the facilities, following the sale. The deal involves the creation of a new holding company named ORPD LLC and implies a total value of about $438 million,” according to the report.

Hawaii Electric Light Co. Awards Contract to Ormat Technologies

Hawaii Electric Light Co. awards contract to ORMAT. Ormat Technologies to provide it with more geothermal power. The extra 25MW will come from a new power plant at a new site, Hawaii Electric Light Co. Ormat provides 38MW of geothermal power from its Pohoiki plant. Ormat was one of six bidders for new contract.
