L'Oreal to Spend CNY 200 million in Expanding Yichang Cosmetics Base

L'Oreal has officially signed a contract to expand its factory in Yichang one of more than 70 cooperation agreements and contracts worth nearly USD 70 billion signed during China Premier Li Keqiang's visit to Europe. The group will invest nearly CNY 200 million more in the base to expand the area to 70,000 square meters and lift the annual production capacity to 210 million pieces a year. About 45% products will be sold to China and 55% to other countries in the Asia-Pacific region. The plant specializes in producing cosmetics products under L'Oreal Paris, Maybelline, Yue-Sai and other brands. The plant also plans to build L'Oreal's zero-carbon factory in Asia Pacific by the end of 2015.

L'Oreal Appoints Lubomira Rochet as Chief Digital Officer and Member of the Group's Executive Committee

L'Oreal has appointed Lubomira Rochet as chief digital officer as well as member of the group's executive committee. Rochet has previously worked with Capgemini as director of strategy and development for the Sogeti entity. In 2008, she joined Microsoft to manage its relationships with start-ups and the innovation ecosystem. Prior to joining the company, she was managing director of Valtech France. Rochet will directly report to company's chairman and CEO Jean-Paul Agon.

LOreal Announces Executive Changes

Isabel MAREY-SEMPER is appointed Executive Vice-President Communication, Sustainablility and Public Affairs, as well as General Manager of the LOreal Foundation, and member of LOreals Executive Committee. She succeeds Sara RAVELLA who, after five successful years spent with LOreal, has decided to leave the Group to pursue a personal project. Isabel MAREY-SEMPER, aged 47, joined LOreal in January 2010 as Director of Shared Services for the Research & Innovation Department. In this capacity, Isabel Marey-Semper was in charge of the transformation of the Department in pursuit of LOreals strategy to conquer one billion new consumers. She was subsequently appointed Senior Vice President of Advanced Research of LOreal. Isabel Marey-Semper and her team lead the internationalization of Advanced Research with the opening of research centers in India, Singapore and California, and accelerated the use of modeling in the creation of molecules and their evaluation. In coordination with the other R&I teams, she reinforced the importance of placing consumer needs at the heart of the Research strategy.
