Opera Software ASA develops and sells Web browsers for computer, tablet, and mobile applications worldwide. It offers five major cloud-based solutions and services to mobile operators worldwide, including operator/co-branded versions of Opera Mini, whereby operators are able to offer their mass-market subscribers content compression, fast Internet download speeds, and access to operator portal services; the Rocket Optimizer solution, which allows mobile operators to use cloud computing to optimize and compress video and other multimedia traffic on crowded mobile towers, including 3G and 4G LTE networks; Opera Web Pass, which allows users to buy time-based or content-based mobile data packages through a one-click purchase; Sponsored Web Pass where operators are able to facilitate advertisers sponsoring free Internet browsing for their subscriber base; and the Opera Subscription Mobile Store, an operator-branded version of the company’s consumer-focused Opera Mobile Store. Opera Software Reports Un-Audited Consolidated Earnings Results for the Second Quarter and First Half Ended June 30, 2015

Opera Software reported un-audited consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and six months period ended June 30, 2015. For the quarter, the company reported total operating revenue of $146.2 million, up 45% from second quarter of 2014, when revenue was $100.6 million. Excluding the impact of year-over-year changes in foreign exchange rates, revenue would have increased by 55% to approximately $156 million. EBITDA, excluding stock-based compensation expenses and one-time costs, was $29.5 million compared with $27.0 million a year ago, up 9%. EBITDA (excluding one-time costs) was $27.4 million compared with $24.9 million a year ago. EBIT (excluding one-time costs) was $15.2 million compared to $18.0 million a year ago. Overall, adjusted EBITDA came in within company's guidance range for the quarter, but towards the lower end as a result of weaker Mobile Advertising revenue, due in particular to softness in the non-Instant play video advertising part of company's advertising business. IFRS net loss was $1.3 million compared to IFRS net income of $9.5 million a year ago. Non-IFRS net income was $12.6 million compared to $15.5 million a year ago. Capital expenditures, which are primarily related to company's hosting operations, were $2.2 million versus $4.6 million a year ago. Net cash flow from operating activities was $31 million versus $4.7 million a year ago. Loss per share was $0.009 against earnings per share of $0.071 a year ago. Non ­IFRS EPS was $0.086 against $0.117 a year ago. For the first half, the company reported total operating revenue of $273.0 million compared to $187.6 million, EBIT (excluding restructuring costs) of $19.6 million compared with $32.9 million, EBIT of $14.7 million compared to $29.7 million, loss before income tax of $18.0 million compared to profit before income tax of $22.9 million, loss of $27.5 million or $0.192 per basic and diluted share compared to profit $11.9 million or $0.087 per basic and diluted share for the last year. Net cash flow from operating activities was $14.5 million versus $20.1 million and purchases of property, plant and equipment (PP&E) and intangible assets was $4.2 million versus $6.2 million year ago. Non-IFRS profit was $23.5 million against $31.2 million a year ago. Non-IFRS Diluted earnings per share was $0.160 against $0.227 a year ago.

Opera Software Considering Strategic Alternatives

Opera Software ASA (OB:OPERA) has attracted "strategic interest from a number of parties". As a result, Opera Software's Board started a process to evaluate and consider strategic alternatives for Opera. ABG Sundal Collier and Morgan Stanley International were hired as advisers, and Opera said it expects to complete the review in the second half of this year. Further details on the potential takeover were not disclosed.
