OmniVision Technologies, Inc. and eyeSight Technologies Ltd. Announces Co-Development of Next-Generation Gesture Recognition Technology

OmniVision Technologies, Inc. and eyeSight Technologies Ltd. announced their co-development of next-generation gesture recognition technology in the smallest form factor. eyeSight's gesture recognition technology, together with OmniVision's OVM6211 complete global shutter camera solution, can recognize a rich language of intuitive touch-free gestures with optimal speed, accuracy and efficiency - even in varying or low-light conditions, bringing gesture recognition to a wide range of applications. The OVM6211 CameraCubeChip is a complete camera solution with a lens, sensor and packaging that uses a 3-micron OmniPixel3-GS global shutter pixel, enabling it to capture high-resolution video at 120 frames per second (FPS). The OVM6211's compact form factor, together with eyeSight's 'slim' software-based technology, makes gesture control viable for space-constrained devices, such as smartphones, tablets, laptops and wearables. The OVM6211 also consumes extremely low power when active or in standby mode, thus allowing for extended battery performance.

Omnivision Technologies, Inc. Collaborates with Almalence for High Quality Imaging on Mobile Devices

OmniVision Technologies, Inc. announced that it is collaborating with Almalence to bring DSC-like performance to mobile applications. The coupling of OmniVision's OV10823 and PureCel OV13850 image sensors with Almalence's computational imaging algorithms allows for the capturing of high resolution images or videos in low-light conditions. OmniVision and Almalence are combining their efforts not only with respect to the OV13850 image sensor, but also with the 1/2.6-inch OV10823 image sensor. The OV10823 is built on OmniVision's 1.4-micron OmniBSI-2 pixel architecture, which can provide the capability to capture crisp 720p high definition (HD) video at 30 frames per second (FPS). Its performance is augmented by Almalence's low-light enhancement technology, which can enable exceptional 10dB reduction in noise without washing out desirable image details. Cameras using super resolution can experience a 1.5 to 2x effective resolution increase, resulting in extremely sharp, crisp images and video. Almalence's super resolution and low-light enhancement technologies are pure software solutions.
