Oi S.A. provides integrated telecommunication services for residential customers and governmental agencies, as well as small, medium, and large companies in Brazil. It offers fixed-line voice services, such as installation, monthly subscription, metered services, collect calls, and supplemental local services; domestic and international long-distance services; broadband Internet access services; subscription television services; and bundled services, as well as owns and operates public telephones. The company also provides post-paid and pre-paid mobile voice and mobile data communications services; mobile long-distance services; value-added services, which include voice, text, and data applications consisting of voicemail, caller ID, personalization, text messaging subscription, chat, mobile television, and location-based services and applications; digital trunk services; and advanced voice services and voice portals, as well as leases digital and analog lines for use in private networks. In addition, it provides mobile plans to small and medium-sized enterprises; data transmission services comprising interconnection between local area networks, videoconferencing, video/image transmission, and multimedia applications; information technology infrastructure services; data center services; managed services; interconnection and network usage charges, and traffic transportation services for other telecommunications providers; and ISP services, as well as operates an Internet portal and a call center. Further, the company offers help desk support that provides assistance for technical support issues, Web services with hosting, e-mail tools, and Website builder and security applications. As of December 31, 2014, it had approximately 653,000 public telephones; and 28.2 million fixed lines in Brazil. The company was formerly known as Brasil Telecom S.A. and changed its name to Oi S.A. in February 2012. Oi S.A. was founded in 1963 and is based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Oi S.A. Reports Earnings Results for the Second Quarter and Six Months of 2015; Provides Guidance for the Year 2015

Oi S.A. reported earnings results for the second quarter and six months of 2015. In the second quarter of 2015, EBITDA from Brazilian operations grew by an impressive 10.7% year-over-year and a 4.1% improvement in EBITDA margin. Operating cash flow increased by almost 200%. Total net service revenues in Brazil, which excludes handset revenues, came to BRL 6.5 billion, 3.3% lower than in the same quarter last year, mainly impacted by the MTR cuts and more challenging macroeconomic environment, especially in the business segment. Year-to-date, routine Brazilian EBITDA has increased almost 12% year-on-year, delivering BRL 3.7 billion in the first half of the year. CapEx fell by 24.5% year-on-year while increased the capacity of transport infrastructure, increased delivered speeds to the residential customers and improved the quality of wireless network. The company reiterated guidance for 2015. The company expected Brazilian routine EBITDA, BRL 7 billion to BRL 7.4 billion, and an improvement in routine EBITDA, Brazilian routine EBITDA minus CapEx of from BRL 1.2 billion -- in a range of BRL 1.2 billion to BRL 1.8 billion in 2015.
