NorthWest Indiana Bancorp operates as the holding company for Peoples Bank SB that provides various banking products and services in Indiana. The company’s deposit products include non-interest bearing demand accounts, interest bearing demand accounts, savings accounts, money market deposit accounts, certificate accounts, and retirement savings plans. Its loan products portfolio comprises residential mortgage loans offered to purchase existing homes, refinance existing homes, or construct new homes; construction loans; commercial real estate loans; consumer loans to individuals for personal, household, or family purposes; commercial business loans; home equity line of credit; home improvement loans and equity loans; government loans; and loans to municipalities. The company also provides estate and retirement planning, guardianships, land trusts, profit sharing and 401(k) retirement plans, IRA and Keogh accounts, and investment agency accounts, as well as serves as personal representative of estates, and acts as trustee for revocable and irrevocable trusts. Further, it provides insurance and annuity investments to wealth management customers. As of July 24, 2014, the company had 14 locations in Lake and Porter counties in northwest Indiana. NorthWest Indiana Bancorp was incorporated in 1994 and is based in Munster, Indiana.

The Bancorp's new quarterly dividend of $0.27 per share represents an 8.0% increase over the previous dividend of $0.25 per share. The dividend will be paid to shareholders of record as of July 2, 2015 with payment made on July 9, 2015.

Northwest Indiana Bancorp Announces Unaudited Consolidated Earnings Results for the First Quarter Ended March 31, 2015

NorthWest Indiana Bancorp announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2015. For the quarter, the company reported net income of $1.9 million or $0.68 per diluted share compared to $1.8 million or $0.68 per diluted share reported in the same period last year. Total interest income was $6.9 million against $6.3 million reported last year. Net interest income was $6.4 million against $5.9 million reported last year. Income before income taxes was $2.4 million against $2.3 million reported last year. Book value per share at the end of the period was $27.32 against $26.78 reported at December 31, 2014. Return on equity was 9.88% against 10.11% and return on assets was 0.99% against 1.01% reported last year.
