It delivers electricity to approximately 353,600 customers in Montana and 62,500 customers in South Dakota; and distributes natural gas to approximately 189,000 customers in Montana, and 87,500 customers in South Dakota and Nebraska. The company was founded in 1923 and is headquartered in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

NorthWestern Corporation Reports Consolidated Earnings Results for the First Quarter Ended March 31, 2015; Reaffirms Earnings Guidance for the Year 2015

NorthWestern Corporation reported consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2015. For the quarter, the company reported net income of USD 51,425,000, or USD 1.09 per basic and diluted share compared to USD 45,580,000 or USD 1.17 per basic and diluted share a year ago. Total revenues were USD 346,011,000 compared to USD 369,723,000 a year ago. Operating income was USD 83,891,000, compared to USD 71,350,000 a year ago. Income before income taxes was USD 61,441,000, compared to USD 53,573,000 a year ago. The increase in operating income was primarily due to the impacts of the hydro acquisition. The increase in net income of USD 5.8 million, or 13%, is primarily the result of earnings from recent hydro acquisition partially offset by mild weather in the first quarter 2015. Adjusted diluted EPS was USD 1.18 against USD 1.16 a year ago. Cash flow from operations is in USD 126.8 million. The company reaffirmed the 2015 adjusted earnings guidance range of USD 3.10 – USD 3.30 per diluted share and consolidated effective income tax rate of approximately 15% - 19% of pre-tax income.
