Northwest Bancshares, Inc. operates as a bank holding company for Northwest Savings Bank that offers various personal and business banking solutions in the United States. The company operates through two segments, Community Banking and Consumer Finance. It offers personal and business deposits, such as checking accounts, savings accounts, money market deposit accounts, term certificate accounts, and individual retirement accounts. The company’s loan portfolio comprise one-to-four-family residential real estate loans, short term consumer loans, multi-family residential and commercial real estate loans, commercial business loans, and home equity loans and lines of credit; and consumer loans, including automobile, sales finance, unsecured personal, and credit card loans, as well as loans secured by deposit accounts. In addition, it offers trust, investment management and planning, actuarial and benefit plan administration, brokerage, and title insurance services; and property and casualty, and employer benefit plan insurance services, as well as retail brokerage services. As of March 31, 2015, the company operated 161 community-banking offices in Pennsylvania, western New York, eastern Ohio, and Maryland. It also operates 51 consumer finance offices in Pennsylvania. The company was founded in 1896 and is headquartered in Warren, Pennsylvania.

Northwest Bancshares has appointed Kevin Nelson as Ohio Region president when its acquisition of LNB Bancorp is completed next month. Nelson originally joined Lorain National Bank in 2000. He became senior vice president and manager of the indirect lending division in 2007 and last year assumed additional responsibilities for all consumer and residential lending.

Northwest Bancshares, Inc. announced that its board of directors has selected Robert Campana to serve as a director, effective upon the completion of the merger of LNB Bancorp, Inc. and Lorain National Bank with and into Northwest Bancshares, Inc. and Northwest Bank. Mr. Campana currently serves as a director of both LNB Bancorp, Inc. and Lorain National Bank. The merger is expected to be completed August 14, 2015.
