Netcare Invests in Kwazulu-Natal Hospitals to Optimize Patient Care

Netcare Limited has invested in its KwaZulu-Natal hospitals to optimize treatment and outcomes for patients. These enhancements include a number of expansion projects and upgrades, some of which have recently been completed and others which are expected to be finalized before the middle of next year. Before mid-2016, more than 350 new beds will be available across the eight Netcare hospitals in KwaZulu-Natal. Netcare is also investing heavily in medical and surgical technology that will ensure patients receive the best possible care.

Hinduja-Everstone Consortium Reoprtedly In Race to Buy CARE Hospitals

P. D. Hinduja National Hospital & Medical Research Centre and Everstone Capital Management has joined the race to acquire the CARE Hospitals Private Limited, according to three people in know of the matter. The Hinduja-Everstone consortium has submitted a bid to acquire 72% stake in CARE in the range of approximately $252 million or INR 16 billion. A consortium of Netcare Limited. (JSE:NTC), Bain Capital Private Equity, Baring Private Equity Asia, IHH Healthcare Berhad (KLSE:IHH) and a West Asia-based hospital chain are alos potential bidders. In April, Reuters had reported that Advent International Corporation is in talks with The Carlyle Group LP (NasdaqGS:CG), IHH Healthcare, Manipal Health Enterprises Private Limited and Fortis Healthcare Limited (BSE:532843) to sell its 72% stake in CARE Hospitals for $250-$300 million. The spokespersons at Hinduja Group and Everstone declined to comment. Advent spokesperson said the firm has no comment to offer. A Bain Capital spokesperson refused to comment while a mail sent to Netcare did not elicit any response.

Management Buyout A Possibility For Mater Private Hospital

The planned sale of the Mater Private to a South African healthcare company has been called off at a late stage, The Sunday Business Post understands. Netcare Limited. (JSE:NTC) reportedly was seeking acquisitions of Mater Private Hospital from CapVest Associates LLP. The stumbling block is believed to be price and the Mater Private's owner decided to reject NetCare's bid. Advanced discussions about the acquisition had been held in recent weeks and a deal was described as being close to completion. There are no other live bids for the Mater Private, but sources have suggested that a management buyout was still a possibility for the business.
