NetApp Appoints Alexander Wallner to Manage the company's Business Operations in the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Africa

NetApp has appointed its area vice-president for Central Europe and Russia, Alexander Wallner, to manage the company's business operations in the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Africa (MEEEA). The region was previously managed by Thomas Ehrlich, VP for NetApp's partner ecosystem in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

NetApp, Inc. Takes High Performance All Flash Arrays into the Mainstream with Easy to Own Solutions for the Enterprise

NetApp, Inc. expanded its all-flash storage array line with new models tailored for enterprise buyers. The All Flash FAS (AFF) 8000 series packs performance and the data management in a single solution. It ships with NetApp Data ONTAP FlashEssentials innovations, which increase flash performance and efficiency. All-flash storage changes the way companies do business by dramatically speeding application performance and improving server efficiency. The all-flash choices available from other vendors today, however, lack core enterprise capabilities such as application integration, built-in data protection, and integration with the cloud. The AFF8000 series delivers the benefits that make all-flash systems ready for broad enterprise deployment. Customers also achieve better ROI for the long term as a result of NetApp's unique ability to seamlessly move data from flash to disk to cloud as it ages. Four AFF8000 models are available now and can be ordered as standalone systems and in FlexPod converged infrastructure solutions. Professional Services, delivered by NetApp or its partners, help users identify those workloads that are best served by all-flash systems. NetApp also announced new installation and extended support offers for the AFF8000 series. Customers can acquire the new systems at prices starting as low as USD 25,000. Risk-free options exist for customers to evaluate NetApp all-flash solutions, available through NetApp and its partners. The AFF8000 series delivers the most complete all-flash offering for the enterprise. Customers benefit from built-in data protection, multiprotocol support, scale-out performance, and seamless data movement from flash to disk to cloud. Other features include quality of service, multi-tenancy, and NetApp's application integration for simplified configuration and management of SQL and Oracle databases, virtualized servers, and VDI workloads.

Crossroads Systems Provides Update to its Patent Infringement Litigation Against Oracle, NetApp, Cisco, Quantum, Dot Hill, and Huawei

Crossroads Systems reported an update to its patent infringement litigation against defendants Oracle, NetApp, Cisco, Quantum, Dot Hill, and Huawei. The company is seeking monetary damages for infringement of U.S. patents 6,425,035, 7,051,147, 7,934,041, and 7,987,311. On June 16, the Federal Court in the Western District of Texas entered an order in which the Court determined the meaning of 17 disputed claim terms in the patents-in-suit. The order was consistent with the Special Master's recommendation issued on February 23, and overruled the defendants' objections on almost all disputed claims terms. The Markman order also closely parallels the claim constructions in previous litigation. A Markman order is significant to a patent case because it provides clarity to a number of patent infringement and validity arguments and must be followed by a jury in deliberations. This was the fourth time the Court has reviewed the meaning of the patent claims relating to Crossroads' '972 patent portfolio. Various patents in Crossroads' '972 access controls patent portfolio have been licensed to 51 companies over 14 years. Crossroads has received over $61 million in license fees and awards over that period. In conjunction with the Markman Order, the Court also granted a motion to stay the cases until the Patent Trial and Appeal Board issues a final decision in the instituted inter partes reviews. The first decision is expected in January 2016.
