nokia corp-spon adr (NOK) Key Developments

Nokia Close To Sale Of Maps Unit

Nokia Corporation (HLSE:NOK1V) is nearing an agreement to sell its maps business made by HERE Holding Corporation to a group of German luxury-car makers including Bayerische Motoren Werke Aktiengesellschaft (DB:BMW), Daimler AG (XTRA:DAI) and AUDI AG (DB:NSU). An agreement could be reached as early as next week, with an announcement targeted for around July 31, 2015, according to people familiar with the matter.

Uber Reportedly Drops Bid For Nokia Map Unit

Uber Technologies, Inc. is reportedly out of the running to acquire HERE Holding Corporation (Here). Uber Technologies, Inc. had submitted an offer for the mapping division this year for as much as $3 billion. Instead, three people with knowledge of the talks said negotiations for Here have focused on a potential deal between Nokia Corporation (HLSE:NOK1V) (Nokia) and a consortium of German automakers, Bayerische Motoren Werke Aktiengesellschaft (DB:BMW), AUDI AG (DB:NSU) and Daimler AG (XTRA:DAI). The people would speak only on the condition of anonymity because the discussions were private. As other potential suitors have dropped out of the bidding process, the three German carmakers have increasingly taken a tough negotiating position with Nokia, according to two of the people. Spokesmen for Nokia and Uber declined to comment. Representatives for the German automakers were not immediately available for comment.

Uber Is Reportedly Out Of The Race For Nokia's Here Business

Uber Technologies, Inc. has reportedly dropped out of the race for HERE Holding Corporation of Nokia Corporation (HLSE:NOK1V). Back in May, Uber and Baidu, Inc. (NasdaqGS:BIDU) backed by Apax, were reportedly teaming up on a joint bid for Here. Uber was also said to have already made a $3 billion offer to Nokia.
