Nokia Corporation, together with its subsidiaries, provides network infrastructure and related services in Finland, the United States, Japan, China, India, the Russian Federation, Germany, Taiwan, Indonesia, Italy, and internationally. The company operates through four segments: Mobile Broadband, Global Services, HERE, and Nokia Technologies. The Mobile Broadband offers network solutions for mobile voice and data services through its Radio and Core clusters for mobile operators. The Global Services segment offers various services for mobile operators, such as network implementation services to build, expand, or modernize communications network; undertaking software and hardware maintenance, as well as provides training; managed services, including network operations and service operations; network planning and optimization services; and systems integration services. The HERE segment focuses on the development of location intelligence, location-based services, and local commerce; and provides up-to-date maps, voice guided navigation, and live traffic information services to automotive, mobile, Internet, and consumer electronics industries. The Nokia Technologies segment develops and licenses technologies. The company was founded in 1865 and is headquartered in Espoo, Finland.

Government May Reportedly Allow Nokia To Sell Chennai Plant

Nokia Corporation (HLSE:NOK1V) may sell its asset. The government may allow the company to sell its Chennai plant with a condition that the money raised will be kept in escrow account till final verdict is out on its INR 210 billion tax dispute. A source told PTI, “The Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) took initiative to resolve Nokia factory issue so that mobile manufacturing can be restarted in its Chennai plant.” On March 3, 2015 in Parliament, Narendra Modi indicated that the Tamil Nadu based Nokia plant, which shut down a few months ago, is likely to start functioning again. The source added, “There are three buyers who have shown interest in the plant but the deal can be finalized only after the court allows its sale.”

DragonWave Enters into Nokia's Microwave Backhaul Ecosystem

DragonWave Inc. has announced entry into Nokia's newly formed MicroWave Backhaul EcoSystem. The DragonWave-Nokia partnership is a broad, multi-faceted partnership, which includes microwave backhaul, millimeter wave backhaul, joint development and technology collaboration, network management collaboration and sales, services, R&D, and legacy maintenance.

Nokia Launches iSON Manager for the Automation of Multi-Vendor Heterogeneous Networks

Nokia announced that it has launched iSON Manager, a self-organizing networks, or SON, solution for the automation of multi-vendor heterogeneous networks. The solution provides many new capabilities to improve network efficiency. The newly launched iSON Manager comes with more than 20 off-the-shelf centralized functional packages with full coordination capabilities for automated configuration, optimization and healing of multi-vendor mobile broadband networks. This complements the distributed automation functions already built into the network elements. The solution uses advanced analytics to improve network performance in real time.
