Its Electronic Systems segment offers solutions for sensing, understanding, anticipating, and controlling operating environment to military, civil, and commercial customers. This segment provides various defense electronics and systems, airborne fire control radars, situational awareness systems, early warning systems, electronic warfare systems, air defense radars and management systems, navigation systems, communications systems, marine power and propulsion systems, space systems, and logistics services. The company’s Information Systems segment offers advanced solutions for Department of Defense, national intelligence, federal civilian, state, international, and commercial customers. This segment provides products and services primarily in the fields of command and control, communications, cybersecurity, air and missile defense, intelligence processing, civil security, health information technology, and government support systems. Its Technical Services segment provides logistics, modernization, and sustainment support; and other advanced technology and engineering services, including space, missile defense, nuclear security, training, and simulation services. The company was founded in 1939 and is based in Falls Church, Virginia.

Northrop Grumman Corporation Reports Unaudited Consolidated Earnings Results for the First Quarter Ended March 31, 2015; Revises Earnings Guidance for the Year 2015

Northrop Grumman Corporation reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2015. For the quarter, the company reported net earnings of $484 million, or $2.41 per diluted share, compared to $579 million, or $2.63 per diluted share in the first quarter of 2014. Total sales were $5,957 million against $5,848 million a year ago. Earnings before income taxes were $704 million against $786 million a year ago. Net cash used in operating activities was $654 million against $402 million a year ago. Capital expenditures were $117 million against $60 million a year ago. Operating income was $780 million against $845 million a year ago. For the year 2015, the company expects sales between $23,400 million to $23,800 million, operating margin of mid 12%, cash provided by operating activities before after-tax discretionary pension contributions between $2,400 million to $2,700 million and free cash flow before after-tax discretionary pension contributions between $1,700 million to $2,000 million. The company expects diluted EPS between $9.40 to $9.60 against previous expected range of $9.20 to $9.50. The first quarter tax rate was considered in 32.5% tax rate guidance for the year. Capital spending guidance of $700 million for the year has no change from prior guidance.

Lockheed Martin Selects Northrop Grumman to Supply Navigation System for SBIRS GEO-6 Satellite

Northrop Grumman Corporation has been selected by Lockheed Martin to provide the space inertial reference system for the U.S. Air Force's sixth Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS) Geosynchronous Earth Orbit (GEO) satellite. Northrop Grumman will provide its Scalable Space Inertial Reference Unit (Scalable SIRU) for sensor pointing/stabilization and attitude control on the SBIRS GEO-6 space vehicle. Northrop Grumman has also provided its Scalable SIRU for previous SBIRS GEO satellites, including GEO-5 following the 2014 contract award. The SBIRS program delivers early warning of ballistic missile launches, missile defense, technical intelligence and battlespace awareness. The system's architecture features a mix of GEO satellites, hosted payloads in Highly Elliptical Orbit, and ground hardware and software.

Northrop Grumman Corporation's Sperry Marine Business Unit to Upgrade Maersk Line Container Ships with New Navigation Systems

Northrop Grumman Corporation's Sperry Marine business unit has been selected to upgrade radar and ECDIS systems on more than 80 Maersk Line vessels. The upgrade will replace all previous radar and ECDIS systems on these vessels and will be carried out in Asia and Europe, from 2015 through 2017. Upgrades will include the Sperry Marine VisionMaster FT family of products and market-leading navigation systems such as the NAVIGAT™ Gyrocompasses, NAVIPILOT™ and NAVIGUIDE™ Autopilots and NAVIKNOT™ Speed Logs.
