NEC Corporation Unveils Enhanced Traffic Management Solution

NEC Corporation has announced the launch of an enhanced Traffic Management Solution, or TMS. The enhanced TMS improves Quality of Experience (QoE) for end users, increases mobile internet usage and helps maximize communication service providers' (CSP) return on investment (ROI). This new solution quantifies and analyzes network performance using three indicators, network coverage, throughput and QoE, and applies optimization accordingly to improve the quality of mobile data services. Conventionally, network performance has been evaluated using only network coverage and throughput. However, NEC established a more comprehensive evaluation of network performance by adding QoE as an indicator, including a means to quantify and visualize QoE. This enables network performance to be improved more effectively by applying traffic optimization functions based on the new comprehensive analysis. NEC is also introducing an SSL traffic flow control solution in order to process rapidly increasing encrypted traffic (SSL traffic) over mobile internet services. Conventionally, network performance has been measured by two indicators; network coverage and throughput. However, network performance measured with just these two indicators is not sufficient for accurately evaluating the smoothness of service access. QoE measures smoothness based on the quality of service that users experience, such as the time required to display web pages and the number /length of stalls during video playback.

NEC Corporation Announces the Launch of iPASOLINK VR

NEC Corporation announced the launch of iPASOLINK VR, which enables high-speed and high-capacity wireless transmission, as a new model in the iPASOLINK Series of ultra-compact microwave communication systems. The iPASOLINK VR delivers enhanced wireless signal processing performance. By combining with the latest modulations method, it will provide high-speed and high-capacity wireless transmission that supports the next-generation mobile communications such as LTE-Advanced. In addition to a wireless interface, it is also equipped with 10 gigabit optical communication interface. This makes the iPASOLINK VR an ideal solution for constructing seamless transmission networks that combine optical fibers with wireless connections. In response to increasing needs for sharing single mobile network infrastructures among multiple telecom operators, the iPASOLINK VR provides Hierarchical QoS (H-QoS) function. It paves the way for the simultaneous operation of mobile networks owned by multiple telecom operators with different service levels on a single transmission network. In addition, the new product incorporates NEC's newly developed SDN based network automation and optimization tool called BRM. Optimizing the traffic flow over radio transmission network, it achieves network operation with a high level of efficiency and reliability, while enhancing end user's quality of experience (QoE). Furthermore, the iPASOLINK VR is compatible with existing iPASOLINK models. Existing products can be smoothly upgraded by adding a card to the in-door unit (IDU), making it possible for telecom operators to control investment in network infrastructure.
