Northfield Bancorp, Inc. operates as the bank holding company for Northfield Bank that provides various banking products and services primarily to individuals and corporate customers in Richmond and Kings Counties in New York, and Union and Middlesex Counties in New Jersey. It accepts various deposits products, including transaction accounts comprising negotiable orders of withdrawal accounts and non-interest bearing checking accounts; savings accounts, such as money market, passbook, and statement savings; certificates of deposit consisting of individual retirement accounts; and brokered deposits. The company also offers various loans comprising multifamily and other commercial real estate loans, construction and land loans, commercial and industrial loans, one-to-four family residential real estate loans, and home equity loans and lines of credit. In addition, it purchases various investment securities, such as mortgage-backed securities and corporate bonds, and depositing funds in other financial institutions, as well as holds primarily mortgage loans and other real estate related investments. The company operates through its home office located in Staten Island, New York; operations center located in Woodbridge, New Jersey; and 29 additional branch offices in New York and New Jersey; and a non-branch office located in Brooklyn, New York. Northfield Bancorp, Inc. was founded in 1887 and is based in Woodbridge, New Jersey.

This dividend will be payable August 19, 2015, to stockholders of record on August 5, 2015. The company reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2015. For the quarter, the company reported total interest income was $25,037,000 against $22,151,000 a year ago. Net interest income was $20,285,000 against $18,520,000 a year ago. Income before income tax expense was $7,705,000 against $8,355,000 a year ago. Net income was $4,295,000 or $0.10 per basic and diluted share against $5,440,000 or $0.11 per basic and diluted share a year ago. Return on assets was 0.56% against 0.81% a year ago. Return on equity was 3.01% against 3.16% a year ago. Net interest income was $40,269,000 against $37,635,000 a year ago. Income before income tax expense was $15,293,000 against $17,162,000 a year ago. Net income was $9,297,000 or $0.21 per diluted share against $10,659,000 or $0.20 per diluted share a year ago. Return on assets was 0.61% against 0.80% a year ago. Return on equity was 3.22% against 3.06% a year ago. Net interest income for the six months ended June 30, 2015, increased 7.0%, primarily due to a $348.9 million, or 14.0%, increase in average interest-earning assets, partially offset by a 19 basis point decrease in net interest margin to 2.85%. The increase in average interest-earning assets was primarily attributable to an increase in average loans outstanding of $515.8 million, and an increase in interest-earning deposits in financial institutions of $31.9 million, partially offset by a decrease in average mortgage-backed securities of $184.5 million and other securities of $24.0 million. Net interest income for the six months ended June 30, 2015, also was affected by an increase in interest expense, driven by a $441.8 million, or 25.4%, increase in average interest-bearing liabilities. Tangible book value per share was $11.78 against $11.93 a year ago. For the quarter, the company reported net charge-offs were $454,000 for the quarter ended June 30, 2015, compared to net charge-offs of $158,000 for the quarter ended June 30, 2014.
