It operates in four segments: Market Services, Listing Services, Information Services, and Technology Solutions. The company provides trading on various exchanges and facilities across asset classes, such as derivatives, cash equities, debt, commodities, structured products, and exchange traded funds; and market data products, financial indexes, capital formation solutions, financial services, corporate solutions, and market technology products and services, as well as provides investment firm, clearing, settlement, and central depository services. It also offers trade reporting and trade comparison services, and risk management services; and broker services comprising technology and customized securities administration solutions to financial participants. In addition, the company provides global listing services; technology solutions for trading, clearing, settlement, surveillance, and information dissemination; and facility management integration, surveillance solutions, and advisory services, as well as develops and licenses NASDAQ OMX branded indexes, associated derivatives, and financial products. It offers technology solutions to approximately 70 exchanges, clearing organizations, and central securities depositories in approximately 50 countries; and surveillance solutions to exchanges, regulators, and brokers worldwide, as well as provides approximately 21,000 indexes. The company was formerly known as The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc. and changed its name to The NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc. in February 2008. The NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc. was founded in 1971 and is headquartered in New York, New York.

Nasdaq Appoints Salil Donde as Executive Vice President and Head of Global Information Services

Nasdaq announced the appointment of Salil Donde as Executive Vice President and Head of Global Information Services. In this role, Mr. Donde will be responsible for leading the strategic direction of the business while managing the success and growth of Nasdaq's current data and index products. Mr. Doned will report directly to Adena Friedman, President of Nasdaq. He will be based in New York and will start on February 5, 2015. Most recently, Mr. Donde was CEO of Lewtan Technologies Inc.

Polish Power Exchange to Tap Nasdaq's X-Stream Trading Technology Platform

Polish Power Exchange and Nasdaq announced the Polish Power Exchange will tap Nasdaq's X-stream Trading technology platform. POLPX has been a Nasdaq customer since 2005, and the new agreement will extend this relationship beyond 2020. The new technology upgrade will give POLPX improved functionality and support higher trading volumes, which underscores its continued growth and allow for further expansion into other commodities and derivatives. In addition, POLPX will be Nasdaq's inaugural energy customer using X-stream Trading, which is currently the most highly deployed trading engine in the world.
