Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA Plans to Launch Three New Routes from Edinburgh and Birmingham Airports to the Canary Islands in Winter 2015

Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA has announced that it will launch three new routes from Edinburgh and Birmingham airports to the Canary Islands in winter 2015. In total, Norwegian is adding almost 100,000 seats between the destinations. The three new flights will operate year round using brand new, 186-seater Boeing 737-800 aircraft with free WiFi for all passengers. Details of the new flights include: Edinburgh to Tenerife route to be launched on October 29, 2015 be operated twice per week on Thursdays and Saturdays with fares from GBP 59.90, one way; Birmingham to Tenerife route to be launched on November and will be operated on Mondays and Fridays, with fares from GBP 49.90, one way; and Birmingham to Gran Canaria route to be launched on November 6, and will be operated on Fridays, with fares from GBP 49.90, one way.

Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA reported traffic results for April 2015. Total number of passengers flown in April 2015 was 2,134,040 compared to 1,996,311 last year, an increase of 137,729 passengers (7%). Total passenger traffic (RPK) was 3,324 million against 2,904 million last year. ASK was 4,036 million against 3,641 million last year. Load factor was 82.4% against 79.8% last year. The pilot strike in March and timing of Easter had a negative impact on the traffic figures for April.

Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA reported unaudited consolidated earnings and operating results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2015. For the quarter, the company reported total operating revenue of NOK 4,034.3 million against NOK 3,550.7 million a year ago. Operating profit before leasing & depreciation (EBITDAR) was NOK 68.4 million against LBITDAR of NOK 215.2 million a year ago. Operating loss before depreciation (LBITDA) was NOK 502 million against NOK 615.1 million a year ago. Operating loss was NOK 722.4 million against NOK 776.8 million a year ago. Negative net result before tax was NOK 776.5 million against NOK 812.7 million a year ago. Net loss was NOK 538.3 million against NOK 594.7 million a year ago. Net profit attributable to owners of the parent company was NOK 538.3 million or NOK 15 per share diluted against NOK 594.7 million or NOK 16.6 per share diluted a year ago. Net cash flow s from operating activities was NOK 995.5 million compared to NOK 1,102.2 million a year ago. Purchases, proceeds and prepayment of tangible assets were NOK 1,597.0 million compared to NOK 1,034.4 million a year ago. EBITDAR excluding other gains was NOK 65.8 million against LBITDAR excluding other losses of NOK 317.7 million a year ago. LBITDA excluding other losses was NOK 504.6 million against NOK 717.6 million a year ago. For the quarter, the company reported total of 4.96 million passengers travelled with Norwegian in the first quarter of 2015, compared to 4.86 million in the first quarter of 2014, an increase of 2%. Production (ASK) increased by 7% and passenger traffic (RPK) increased by 15%. The load factor was 83% in the first quarter, an increase of 6 percentage points compared to the same period last year. At the end of the first quarter the total fleet including aircraft on maintenance and excluding wetlease comprised 97 aircraft. The Group utilized every operational aircraft on average 10.6 block hours per day in the first quarter compared to 10.9 last year. The share of Internet sales was 82 % which is a decrease of 1 percentage point from last year. For the year 2015, the company expects a production growth (ASK) of 5 % (unchanged).
