3M Company reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2015. For the quarter, net sales were $7,686 million against $8,134 million last year. Operating income was $1,840 million against $1,856 million last year. Income before income taxes was $1,812 million against $1,820 million last year. Net income attributable to the company was $1,300 million or $2.02 per diluted share against $1,267 million or $1.91 per diluted share last year. Net cash provided by operating activities was $1,338 million against $1,640 million last year. Purchases of property, plant and equipment was $370 million against $341 million last year. Organic local-currency sales grew 1.8% and foreign currency translation reduced sales by 7.3% year-on-year. For the six months, net sales were $15,264 million against $15,965 million last year. Operating income was $3,570 million against $3,572 million last year. Income before income taxes was $3,515 million against $3,508 million last year. Net income attributable to the company was $2,499 million or $3.87 per diluted share against $2,474 million or $3.70 per diluted share last year. Net cash provided by operating activities was $2,418 million against $2,732 million last year. Purchases of property, plant and equipment was $661 million against $634 million last year.
