Maple Leaf Foods announced that Dr. Jeffrey Gandz and Diane E. McGarry will retire from the company's Board of Directors at the annual general meeting of shareholders on April 30, 2015. The company also announced that Ron Close has been nominated to join the board as an independent director and will stand for election at the annual general meeting. Mr. Close is being nominated by McCain Capital Inc. under the terms of the Governance Agreement with McCain Capital Corporation to replace Dr. Jeffrey Gandz. Maple Leaf Foods Inc. announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the fourth quarter and year ended December 31, 2014. For the quarter, the company reported loss from continuing operations of CAD 22.992 million against CAD 47.942 million a year ago. Loss before income taxes from continuing operations was CAD 31.481 million against CAD 60.574 million a year ago. Loss from continuing operations was CAD 10.377 million or CAD 0.16 per basic share against CAD 33.866 million or CAD 0.34 per basic share a year ago. Adjusted operating loss was CAD 13.679 million against CAD 56.033 million a year ago. Adjusted earnings per share were CAD 0.08 against CAD 0.41 a year ago. Sales were CAD 794.007 million against CAD 748.311 million a year ago. Net loss attributed to common shareholders were CAD 28.188 million or CAD 0.20 per basic and diluted share against net earnings attributed to common shareholders of CAD 500.746 million or CAD 3.58 per basic and diluted share a year ago.
