It offers various individual life and health insurance, and individual and group long-term care insurance products through insurance agents, brokers, banks, financial planners, and direct marketing. The company also provides annuities, pension contracts, and mutual fund products and services; various retirement products to group benefit plans; deposit and credit products to Canadian customers; and non-guaranteed, partially guaranteed, and fully guaranteed investment options through general and separate account products. It distributes wealth management products through insurance agents and brokers affiliated with the company, securities brokerage firms, financial planners, pension plan sponsors, pension plan consultants, and banks. In addition, the company is involved in asset management, and property and casualty reinsurance business. Further, it offers investment advisory and management, mutual fund dealer, investment counseling, and portfolio and mutual fund management services; manages timberland and agricultural portfolios; and provides property and casualty insurance, as well as property, casualty, and financial reinsurance services. Additionally, the company holds and manages oil and gas properties; holds oil and gas royalties and European equities; and develops and operates hydro-electric power projects. Manulife Financial Corporation was founded in 1887 and is headquartered in Toronto, Canada.

Manulife Appoints John Brisco as Chief Information and Chief Operations Officer, Asia

Manulife has appointed John Brisco as Chief Information Officer and Chief Operations Officer for its Asia Division. Based in Hong Kong, John is responsible for leading the company's information functions technology and digital execution strategies in 12 markets across Asia, as well as regional operations services including talent management and information risk management. John joined the company in June, 2015. He joins Manulife from QBE Insurance where he was Chief Information Officer, Emerging Markets, and Chief Operations Officer, Latin America.

Manulife Announces Executive Appointments

Manulife has announced the appointment of three senior executives in Hong Kong to support its business needs and developments. Calvin Chiu has been appointed Vice President, Pensions for Greater China at Manulife Asia. He is responsible for developing pension market entry and expansion strategy in mainland China and Taiwan, as well as advising other Asian markets on pension-related matters. Previously he was responsible for executive compensation at Manulife and compensation programmes for Manulife's Investment Division. Mr. Chiu joined Manulife in 2010 as Vice President, Global Pensions and Benefits, to oversee the pension and benefits plans of employees, agents and retirees globally. Prior to joining Manulife, Mr. Chiu worked in a major bank and as a consultant for an international consulting firm. Edgar Chan has been promoted to Assistant Vice President, Projects, Distribution Operations for Manulife Hong Kong. His prime focus is on implementing strategic distribution projects. He has played a key role in various strategic bancassurance and brokerage initiatives, helped grow Hong Kong's client base from mainland China and improved sales and service support. Mr. Chan joined Manulife's regional office in 2008 as part of its Asia Product Risk Management team. In 2011, he was transferred to the Hong Kong operations to take charge of the technology and operational support for Manulife Hong Kong's distribution partners including banks and brokers. Prior to joining Manulife, he was an actuary for a major insurance company in Hong Kong. Ji-Ye Hwang has been appointed Assistant Vice President, Innovation and Customer Experience for Manulife Hong Kong as part of the company's drive towards enhancing customer-centricity. In this newly created role, Ms. Hwang is responsible for implementing Manulife's desired customer journeys through innovation and collaboration with different businesses. This will include forming 'affinity partnerships' aimed at fulfilling customers' retirement, health and family needs. Ms. Hwang joined Manulife Asia's human resources department in 2008. She was transferred to John Hancock in the United States as Assistant Vice President, Learning and Development in 2011, responsible for developing management and leadership programmes. She returned to Hong Kong in 2013 as Assistant Vice President of Strategy, Asia to oversee Manulife Asia's strategic planning process. Before joining Manulife, she was a senior consultant at a global consultancy.

Manulife Plans $450 Million IPO Of U.S Assets In Singapore

Manulife Financial Corporation (TSX:MFC) is planning to list some of its U.S. property assets in Singapore in the second half of the year in an initial public offering worth $450-million, two people familiar with the deal said. As per sources DBS Bank and JPMorgan are advising Manulife on the IPO.
