Meru Networks, Inc. Announces Availability of Meru XPress Cloud

Meru Networks, Inc. announced the availability of Meru XPress Cloud, a controller-less 802.11ac Wi-Fi solution featuring cloud-based management that is purpose-built for small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) and distributed enterprises. The XPress Cloud portfolio includes the new Meru XP8i access point, with management software hosted by Meru and delivered through highly-secure data center providers worldwide. With Meru XPress Cloud, only network management traffic traverses the cloud; all corporate data remains behind the firewall. XPress Cloud is designed to be easily deployed by general office staff with little or no IT experience. Only a PoE-capable Ethernet switch or an optional external power supply, along with a basic Internet connection, are required to have an enterprise-grade wireless network up and running in minutes. The high-performance, two-radio, 2X2, 802.11ac Meru XP8i offers zero-touch provisioning, with automated channel and power selection capabilities enabling instant self-configuration. Meru XPress Cloud also features an integrated captive portal for secure on-boarding of employee and guest devices. XPress Cloud is available through authorized Meru channel partners and features management portal customization, enabling partner-branded offerings. Meru gives customers two options for the acquisition of XPress Cloud, with XP8i access points available for purchase upfront, or available on a Wi-Fi-as-a-Service (WaaS), subscription basis. Monthly management and monitoring license fees apply. XPress Cloud is available now and is priced at U.S. list $695 for the XP8i access point and U.S. list $135 per access point, annually, for the cloud management license. WaaS subscription pricing includes the XP8i access point and management license and varies based on the term selected. All prices include 24x7 support, advance replacement and software updates.

Meru Networks, Inc. Reports Unaudited Consolidated Financial Results for the Fourth Quarter and Year Ended December 31, 2014; Provides Earnings Guidance for the First Quarter of 2015

Meru Networks, Inc. reported unaudited consolidated financial results for the fourth quarter and year ended December 31, 2014. Total revenues for the fourth quarter of 2014 were $21.7 million, down 28% from $30.2 million in the fourth quarter of 2013. Net loss as reported in accordance with GAAP was $5.2 million for the fourth quarter of 2014, or a net loss of $0.22 per basic and diluted share, compared to a net loss of $2.1 million, or a net loss of $0.09 per basic and diluted share, for the same period of 2013. Non-GAAP net loss of $4.0 million, or $0.17 loss per basic and diluted share, compared to a non-GAAP net loss of $0.1 million, or $0.00 loss per basic and diluted share, for the same period of 2013. Non-GAAP results for the fourth quarter of 2014 exclude the impact of stock-based compensation expense of $1.2 million. Loss from operations was $4,881,000 compared to $1,606,000 a year ago. Loss before provision for income taxes was $5,107,000 compared to $2,014,000 a year ago. Non-GAAP loss from operations was $3,646,000 compared to income of $442,000 a year ago. During the fourth quarter, the company recorded a negative cash flow from operations of $6.8 million. The cash flow was primarily driven by the operating net loss of $4 million and net working capital requirements of $2.1 million. Revenues for the year ended December 31, 2014 were $90.9 million, a decrease of 14% from $105.7 million in 2013. Net loss as reported in accordance with GAAP for 2014 was $20.9 million, or $0.89 per basic and diluted share, compared to a net loss of $12.4 million, or $0.57 per basic and diluted share in 2013. Non-GAAP net loss for 2014 was $14.4 million, or $0.61 loss per basic and diluted share, compared to non-GAAP net loss of $5.4 million, or $0.25 loss per basic and diluted share in 2013. Loss from operations was $19,078,000 compared to $9,911,000 a year ago. Loss before provision for income taxes was $20,360,000 compared to $11,923,000 a year ago. Non-GAAP loss from operations was $12,653,000 compared to $3,102,000 a year ago. Net cash used in operating activities was $11,688,000 compared to $345,000 a year ago. Purchase of property and equipment was $909,000 compared to $1,403,000 a year ago. Looking ahead to first quarter, the company currently forecasts first quarter 2015 revenues of $15.5 million to $18.5 million. The company expects non-GAAP gross margins to be in the 60.5% to 62.5% range. Based on these estimates, the company expects non-GAAP net loss of $5.2 million to $3.3 million, or a net loss of $0.21 to $0.30 per share based on assumed share count of 24.6 million.
