This segment also provides specialty pharmaceutical solutions for biotech and pharmaceutical manufacturers; and practice management, technology, clinical support, and business solutions to oncology and other specialty practices operating in the community setting. In addition, this segment offers medical-surgical supply distribution, equipment, logistics, and other services to healthcare providers through a network of distribution centers in the United States; sells financial, operational, and clinical solutions for pharmacies; and provides consulting, outsourcing, and other services. The McKesson Technology Solutions segment delivers enterprise-wide clinical, patient care, financial, supply chain, and strategic management software solutions; and connectivity, outsourcing, and other services, such as remote hosting and managed services to healthcare organizations. This segment’s product portfolio is designed to address various healthcare clinical and business performance needs ranging from medication safety and information access to revenue cycle management, resource utilization, and physician adoption of electronic health records. It serves integrated delivery networks, hospitals, physician practices, home healthcare providers, retail pharmacies, and payers. McKesson Corporation was founded in 1833 and is headquartered in San Francisco, California.

McKesson Corporation Reports Unaudited Consolidated Earnings Results for the Fourth Quarter and Full Year Ended March 31, 2015; Provides Earnings Guidance for the Year 2016

McKesson Corporation reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the fourth quarter and full year ended March 31, 2015. For the quarter, the company reported revenue of $44,925 million against $37,832 million a year ago. Operating income was $700 million against $605 million a year ago. Income from continuing operations before income taxes was $620 million against $515 million a year ago. Net income was $144 million against $365 million a year ago. Net income attributable to company was $132 million or $1.69 per share diluted from continuing operations against $370 million or $1.72 per share diluted from continuing operations a year ago. Non-GAAP income from continuing operations was $992 million against $874 million a year ago. Diluted earnings per common share from continuing operations, net of tax attributable to company was $2.94 against $2.71 per share a year ago. For the year, the company reported revenue of $179,045 million against $137,392 million a year ago. Operating income was $2,968 million against $2,439 million a year ago. Income from continuing operations before income taxes was $2,657 million against $2,171 million a year ago. Net income was $1,543 million against $1,258 million a year ago. The guidance range assumes a full-year adjusted tax rate of approximately 31.5%, which may vary from quarter to quarter. Cash flow from operations is expected to be approximately $3 billion. Internal capital spending is projected to be between $600 million and $650 million, as the company continues to develop information technology infrastructure across McKesson to make incremental investments related to retail pharmacy operations. For fiscal 2016, the company expects year-over-year interest expense to be less than the prior year based on $1.5 billion of planned debt repayments.

McKesson Eyes Acquisitions

McKesson Corporation (NYSE:MCK) is looking for acquisition opportunities. John H. Hammergren, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of McKesson, said, "During the fourth quarter, we repurchased $340 million in common stock as part of our portfolio approach to capital deployment which includes maintaining our investment-grade ratings, while deploying our capital through a mix of internal investments, acquisitions, share repurchases and dividends."

Investors Reportedly Eyes Stake In Omnicare

Omnicare Inc. (NYSE:OCR) is drawing interest from potential buyers including Express Scripts Holding Company (NasdaqGS:ESRX) and CVS Health Corporation (NYSE:CVS), people with knowledge of the matter said. Initial bids for Omnicare, which has a market value of about $8.5 billion, are due in May, the people said, asking not to be identified discussing private information. Omnicare is working with Bank of America Corp. and Centerview Partners to explore options including a possible sale, the people said. Potential bidders also include Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc. (NasdaqGS:WBA) and McKesson Corporation (NYSE:MCK), the people said. For any of the potential buyers, Omnicare would offer a way to boost earnings and dividends, analysts have said. Omnicare climbed 1.8% to $87.98 at the close in New York. There is no certainty Omnicare will reach a deal with any of the bidders, one of the people cautioned. Representatives for CVS, Express Scripts, McKesson and Walgreens declined to comment. A representative for Omnicare declined to comment, while spokesmen for Bank of America and Centerview didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.
